View Full Version : Adding a Landing View Panel

I've been playing around with a panel and trying to add a Landing View panel.

But I need some help please.

When I added the new landing panel bmp, and new window entries, all the icons got screwed and won't select the correct popup windows.

The landing panel shows but I've got to use "shift 1 & shift 2" to remove the main panel etc.

What's the correct format to have a landing panel show up using an icon system so it doesn't interfere with the other popup windows?

Thanks for any feed back. :icon29: :icon29:

The first thing I wouild check is the panel.cfg setup.
Make sure the Window Titles section is in the correct order, matching the Window entries below.
Example:
[Window Titles]
Window00=Modern Style Panel Full
Window01=Modern Style Panel Lowered
Window02=Zoomed RPM & Manifold
Window03=Trim Display
Window04=GPS

[Window00]
file=panel_modern_full.bmp
size_mm=1600
position=7
visible=1
ident=0
.
.
[Window01]
file=panel_modern_down.bmp
size_mm=1600
position=7
visible=0
ident=453
.
.
etc...

Also check the "visible=" entry is correct at each entry
and
the ident=xxx entry is correct for each icon

You can also add this section, if it is not already there, just below the Window Titles section:

[VIEWS]
VIEW_FORWARD_WINDOWS=0,453,etc,etc,etc <-------ident numbers in order of Window

-------------------------------
Hope this is helpful

Thanks Dogknot,

I'll try that later today.

Mmmmm .... that didn't work.

I'm not one to give up, so I'll keep experimenting.

The vfr panel I did for the Aerosoft Beaver (and another one of which I cant remember for which aircraft) did that to me in the beginning. If I recall correctly, the fix was when FS9 was first opened with that aircraft, before touching anything else, cycle the IFR/VFR panel with the "landing panel icon". This set up the "memory" for the correct panel. I can't explain the whys, but thats how it worked.

One more thought, start fs9 with the default aircraft/location (cessna at SEATAC) then select your aircraft with your new panel and then cycle the landing panel icon. The default aircraft/location resets the ol fs9 brain, so to speak.

For quicker resolution, it would be helpful for you to post the top sections of your panel.cfg so we can see what you see, or cannot see. :-)

That's a good idea :icon_lol:

I dont know if you will like this, but I made you a .cab file containing a new icon and a command xml file. Also a new ident number. Try it out and see if it fixes your problem.

In your panel.cfg you will need to change the following for all to work correctly:

[Views]
//VIEW_FORWARD_WINDOWS=MAIN_PANEL,COLLECTIVE_PANEL,R ADIO_STACK_PANEL,GPS_PANEL,THROTTLE_PANEL,OVERHEAD _PANEL,COMPASS_PANEL,11,12
VIEW_FORWARD_WINDOWS=MAIN_PANEL,11649,RADIO_STACK_ PANEL,GPS_PANEL,THROTTLE_PANEL,OVERHEAD _PANEL,COMPASS_PANEL,11,12

[Window00]

//gauge68=BELL_206B!COLLECTIVE DISPLAY TOGGLE, 708, 570, 20, 20 // for the Landing Panel
gauge68=PH_Landing!Approach_panel, 708, 570, 20, 20 // for the Landing Panel

[Window01]

//ident=COLLECTIVE_PANEL
ident=11649

//gauge67=BELL_206B!COLLECTIVE DISPLAY TOGGLE, 260,930,20,20
gauge67=PH_Landing!Approach_panel, 260,930,20,20

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The forum format wont allow a .CAB so I tacked on ".txt" so you can save it to your puter. Then just drop the .txt so it is back to PH_Landing.CAB, then drop the cab file into your panel folder.

Thanks for the cab file Dogknot. :applause:

I made the relevant changes to the panel cfg and the Main panel and Landing panel change as they should.

But I still have the same issue with the rest of the icons not opening the correct windows.

Strange.

Thanks again for your help.

You're very welcome, Pete. My pleasure. Glad the initial "panel swap" thing was fixed.

As far as the rest of the icons are concerned, assuming they are the originals, the only thing that comes to my mind is the correct sequential numbering of the windows in the panel.cfg.
With the addition of your landing panel at Window01 then the Radio Stack-Lower became Window02 and so on. Might be worth a double check. ???
