I saw your response to my post re. overclocking my Q6600 from 2.4GHz to 3.0GHz. You mentioned you run yours at 2.8GHz. I was wondering what settings you use for a stable boot to 2.8? FSB, CPU core voltage, FSB voltage, etc...
I'm still very stable at 3.0GHz, but have noticed the core temps really jump when running FSX and would like a bit more of a temp cushion before buying a new cooling fan.

With the fan mentioned I run the cpu at a multiplier of x 9. 370 x 9 = 3330mHz or 3.33 gigaHz. the fsb is 1480 mHz at this multiplier and the cpu voltage is 1.4000V. Hope this helps. The version of the Q6600 is important and the SLACR version will overclock more readily.

i am 333 and 135V if i remember well...cpu fan accelerate when cpu is at 44 so it will never overpass 44 degree also with fsx an image editor and capture video program.I had to reduce ram at 667 so it goes at 830 with the overclock, overpassing ram frequence system was unstable.

Thanks to both of you for your help! I've read you can try backing off your CPU core voltage a bit after overclocking to see if you boot stably. That reduces core temps, so I'm going to give that a shot first. FYI, I boosted my CPU core volts to 1.4 (which I won't exceed with stock cooling) to get to 3.0GHz.
My current settings are;
FSB - 1,333
CPU core volt - 1.4
FSB volt - 1.4

I'm going to reduce the CPU core volt a smidge to see if that reduces core temps.

One other thing, I've been running Core Temp 0.99.3, but downloaded Real Temp 2.70 today and notice there's a 5 deg C difference between the two programs (Real Temp shows a lower temp consistently)??? Anyone else notice this?
