I'm currently reading the book Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption. It's about Louis Zamperini who was an Olympic long distant runner, then became a Bombardier on a B-24 which was shot down or crashed (I haven't got to that part yet).

Anyways, the book sort of prompted me load the Alphasims B-24 back into FS-9. Nice plane to fly but it doesn't have a 2d panel and the VC is just a picture of the 2d panel. Do you any of you fellas know where I can find a panel for the AS B-24? I did a Google search, and searched AVSim and FlightSim and found nothing.

Redownload from the Alpha Oldies site. Originally the conversions to freeware didn't have the 2d panel, but I'm pretty sure that they all do now.

Go to the Alpha/Virtavia freeware page and redownload the B-24 package...it now comes with the 2D and VC set up. The VC gauges aren't great...but they are there. It's a good starting point for a better VC set up.

It burns me to say so, but if you can stand payware and can find it, the old Wings of Power Heavy Bombers and Jets pack had pretty good B-24 in it.

Thanks fellas! I'll re-download it from AS. I've spent quite a bit of $ on FS9 the last few months, so I'll stick to freeware for now.

rayrey10, I hear you man. I thought I was going to poop :toilet:a brick when I opened my VISA bill a couple days ago....I'm going to blame it all on those end of the year sales. I can always explain to my Chief Financial Officer (the wife for any single folks here) just how much money I saved.:icon_lol:

you can always explain that "it was on sale, Dear".
at least that's the excuse they always use...

I believe the Flight Sim Pilot Shop at flightsim.com still has this available for purchase. Haven't been there for a while but it's worth the shot to look.

EDIT: Well... I didn't see it at the FS Pilot Shop, so at this point I don't know where one would find it.

There was a recent thread on the Wings of Power pack being on sale for a very low price. Search the forum for the title.

The WOP B-24 is indeed a tremendously detailed aircraft as well as all the others included in the pack.

Another option would be to try K. Malinowski's B-24 series (CFS 2) in FS 9. They are also very well done and should be here in the archives or over at the larger sim sites.

Yep, I'll go with those suggestions. The advantage the WoP pack had over the Alphasim model was the inclusion of a PB4Y-2 as well; but Malinowski also did a Privateer (http://simviation.com/1/download-file?file=kmPB4Y2.zip&fileId=20857), so there is a decent freeware alternative available for you.

Yep those darn end of the year sales got me too. The CFO here said the same thing "you spent how much...and on what?!! I tried the "honey but it was on sale" bit...didn't work! LoL!!!

Anyways, I searched for WoP pack and the cheapest I found it was on Amazon for $60-$70...a little too rich for my blood.

I'll check out that other B-24.

Thanks again!

ReyRey10 - I picked up the WoP Pack on ebay. It came from an outfit called Gametendo.com. You might check them ou and see if they still have it available. It's a great package that is compatable with FSX, FS9 and CFS3. Less than $10.00 including shipping to AK!

I think there is a reason why the Kristof Malinowski Libs are good, from what I understand, he did the WoP ones after his CFS2 follies. :d

This thread contains a link to the Ebay site Wings of Power Collection (http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?61629-Wings-of-Power-Collection)

It's a great deal, less than 8 bucks including shipping.

You might try doing a search for Malinowski then look for the FS9 Privateer, the Malinowski with a K. he does
good panels too.

The E-bay listing for the Wing of Power set is no longer valid......I should have purchased the package, but didn't....as I already have the WOP B-17s and don't fly them, have the Alpha and Malinowski B-24s and only fly them occasionally...so I saw no real point in spending 8 bucks of real cold-hard cash for something that I would use about as often as I use that back waxing kit my wife bought me for Christmas 4 years ago....NOT AT ALL!

Yeah, Malinowski did the B-24 and Privateer for WoP. I really like the Privateer in that pack.

My earlier post contains a direct link to download the Privateer from Simviation.
