Just watched the video and will break down what I think can and can not be duplicated in CFS2.

Reflective water: Nope

Clouds: There are several options for clouds that can be used in CFS2 that look nearly as good or as good as the ones in the video. I personally use a set of clouds done for FS2000...they look really nice while maintaining high frame rates. Some folks use a combination of clouds from FS2002, FS2004 and FSX. I was sent a set of the stock FSX clouds that had been reworked for CFS2 use and found that they dropped frame rates too much for my liking....they did look incredible though.

Ground Texture: Yep...the Pac Tex set of ground textures are amazing. I just got around to installing them in my Jet Test install and that change alone made CFS2 look 100% better.

Trees: Very Close, with work. There are some very very nice tree packages for CFS2 that can be added to the GSL scenery...if you know how to do it and have the drive to do so. I am clueless in that area, but have seen screenshots posted by some members who have tweaked their stock scenery and the results are close to what FS2004 offers.

Planes: You would be surprised how many CFS2 planes are being used in FS2004. The quality of many of the planes available to us CFS2 fliers are as good as the FS2004 planes.

Ships: Check out the ships by the Virtual Navy and by Collin...amazing ships with lots of detail...including static aircraft and personell.

Can CFS2 to be made to look like what the video showed...yes it can! It will take lots of work, lots of time...but it can be done.

And when you finally finish, you still have one distinct edge - unlike what you just witnessed, you can actually fire your virtual weapons and drop the bombs for effect :ernae:

I just watched the movies and read the commentary....It was a humbling experience. :kilroy:

I believe the scenery used is by Yanco and it is very extensive with several downloads required. I've never tried to use it in CFS 2 as we already have the library objects to do so and a much more useful mission builder than what FS 9 has. The project must have taken hundreds of hours to produce and package.

The web site in the readme file is:

Very Cool;

Some of the stuff in this Vid is from CFS2. The Kate panel and the Interior View from the Kate looking back at Yorktown are from the original AF=Midway. The Kate skin also looks like the one I did but there are several of that same scheme. At least one of the SBD skins is Smashing Times. I think there's quite a bit of Gramps work displayed also.

The only thing they really forgot is that the Val's should be Green on top. They repainted the whole lot right after Coral Sea.

I'm going to have to try the Ships, just to see..... Never mind, they're all BGL's, No Joy on ship MDL's.

His scenery is for Flight Sim 2004 and can not be used in CFS2.

Scruff, read the readme...you'll find the details there.

Yes, the links were really more for an explanation on how the film was made than for any use by CFS 2 simmers. Those with FS 9 may wish to install the files as they only work in that sim.

I've seen this video before. I think it was available for download at FlightSim.com. Funny, I was just on YouTube looking for Corsair videos and found one of Lawdog's carrier takeoffs. One of the posters didn't believe it was actually CFS2.

The answer my friend to your question is a resounding,Yes!

Even better.

There are issues like taking off a carrier with other planes that are a bit tricky. But other than that you can make it a into very nice looking Sim through the generosity gifts from the developers of this Sim to your likeing.

All you need is to get this program http://www.fraps.com/

The people who think that CFS-2 is not as good as IL-2... haven't played CFS-2... lol... but that's just me... I prefer the camera angles in IL-2, but in general, CFS-2 is the better sim IMO.
