Well after the "Silly Season" break I have gone back into the paint shop. This time it is one of the magnificent WarbirdSim Mustangs. This time it is one that flew at airshows around Australia and took part in several air races during the 60s.

There is still some work to do but should be available by the weekend.

Just letting the paint dry.

Yes Jan there happens to be a lot of red in this one :). The next one I am having my workers perp for me will be a very different colour.

Hopefully over the next couple of weeks I will also have two or three 'stangs in RAAF service.

Another painter is born! Very nice work! I've been holding off the civilian paints but may take a stab eventually.....so many cool scheme's.

This is looking good!

Just what I need for Orbx Australia Pat.
:applause:
Can't remember who flew 'FCB, would it be Jack MacDonald or perhaps Arnold Glass?
Really nice paint.

Really nice paint.

Jack MacDonald was a regular pilot of 'FCB' and I think Arnold Glass also flew it.

I also recall seeing Arnold's name on the canopy of BOZ when it was at Illawarra Flying School/Fawcett Aviation at Bankstown in the early to mid 70s.

Arnold Glass was a bit of a speed freak as I think he also drove racing cars.

Nope it is a true paint. Scheme comes from the book "Mustangs Of The RAAF and RNZAF" by Peter Anderson. A very hard to find book as it is no longer in print. I had to Google it to find the copy I have.

There were several civiliand Aussie 'stangs with colourful paint schemes and I hope to add a couple more in the near future.

Nice! Must admit the schemes worn by racing Mustangs are very eye-catching and so is your repaint. Looking forward to downloading it and taking it for a spin!

Best,

Taff.

Good choice on a paint for this one!

Wasn't this aircraft the famed "Big Beautiful Doll" resto, which we lost last year?

Looks like my memory bank is functioning despite the bouts of CRAFT Syndrome.
Arnold Glass was a definite revhead Pat.
I wasn't sure about the Mustang, but I well remember his all red Sea Fury.
Arnie tinkered with racing cars as well, I recall him buying a 'Factory' BRM F1 car in 1961 at the end of what became the Tasman Cup series.
IIRC he followed up the next year with the Lance Reventlow owned 'Scarab Buick', transplanting the Buick engine into the BRM.
That made the purists wail and gnash their teeth!!!!
I'm pretty sure he discarded the cars not long after and graduated to 'Things with Wings', and again, IIRC, big powerboats.
Once again mate, nice work.

PS: I think Jack MacDonald made his $$$$ manufacturing those bloody useless warm air hand dryers that infested almost every Public Dunny throughout the country, but I'm not certain of that one.

Well folks I have done everything I could think of having to do with her so I have zipped her up and you will find her here at SOH in the file Library or over at OZx. Even remembered to change th callsign on the placard this time.

Any things found to be amiss let me know and I will see what I can do to fix it.

Now that I have finished? this one, my slaves .... oops workers are busy prepping 3 more 'stangs for me. 2 of these will be wearing RAAF military colours.

Anyway happy flying and good tailwinds.

EDIT: I have also uploaded VH-AUB/A68-107 and A68-565 to the FSX Skins section for downloading.
