Hi. I was wondering if anyone has an issue "hosting" for Windows 7. I can join others who are hosting but I cannot seems to "host" on my side. I am hooked up straight to the cable when I do test this. But seems to me I have no luck with it. Thanks in advance.

Deadmeat1971, look to this thread: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?25661-Windows-7-install-fix

It would also be a good idea to contact Tailwind. He knows more about this than anyone else I know.

Some versions of Win 7 may act differently with CFS3 in online mode.

The online guys are over at www.sim-outhouse.net (http://www.sim-outhouse.net)

Hey Deadmeat1971

What exactly is happening when you try to host. Can you see players trying to join but they get a mismatch or are they not able to connect at all?

What is your networking hardware? Do you have a router or just a cable modem? If it's a router you will need to open ports to allow incoming traffic.

Check your Win7 firewall settings and make sure that CFS3 is set as an exception to allow incoming traffic. Here is a link that explains where to look and how to add it if is not allowed

Please report back with as much info as possible

Cheers

Grizzly50 and Tailwind,

Thanks for the immediate responses. I just have the issue solved. The problem was that the IP Address when you press CTRL+H on the Host shows 0.0.0.0:28883. I thought I didn't have any signal coming through with that indication. I just realized that you need to ignore that display. It doesn't work in Windows 7 as far as I can tell. However, the 'signal' is there fortunately. I have tested with my laptop with Vista and my old desktop with XP. Apparently, they do work fine connecting with Windows 7 as the host. I thought I was missing something when I have reread the "Windows Install Fix" over and over again. Silly me, that IP display doesn't work (ignore it).

I do appreciate you all for continuing the support for CFS3 when a new OS does come up. It's great that CFS3 has a lot of years left. Thanks again.
