Still good old rFactor Wombat! It's the Historix v1.9 mod.

http://www.virtualr.net/historic-gt-touring-car-1-9-released

Big download (Almost 3 Gb!) but fast servers. Original GT Legends DVD or download is required though as it is based on that.

So I discovered!
No D/L speed problems either.
Just about to do another dedicated light rF installation as suggested for this one.
:applause:
FYI, I must confess to running a lot of NFS2 races lately and really enjoying them.
And have a very pleasant Christmas my friend, it will be another warm one for us.

Merry christmas to you too (And to the rest of you!)

I've been driving around in rFactor a bit lately, havig found several new mods including F1 76/77 (Average) Group C (Nicemodels, shame about the shared physics) and F5000 (Very nice once you've warmed the car up properly!)

Got some Historix cars on track; first was the 330P4 at the Targa Florio venue:

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a262/Ferror/rFactor/Historix_cars2.jpg

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a262/Ferror/rFactor/Historix_cars3.jpg

Great model of the (IMHO) best looking race car ever; sounds are OK but not the best of the pack. The brakes are pretty bad (Guess that's realistic) and the physics are great. It slides around nicely once the tires are up to temperature.

Next up is Rudolf Uhlenhaut's personal transport, the 300SLR at the classic 1977 Le Mans track. This may look like the 300SL Gullwing but it has a different (Spaceframe) chassis and a 3 liter eight-in-line F1 engine under the hood. It sounds like it should: very loud! Like a Bf-109 from hell.. Gave me a big scare when turning into Mulsanne at 280 kph and the rear end stepped out..!

Third car had to be the Maserati Birdcage of course! The track is the default Toban.

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a262/Ferror/rFactor/Historix_cars7.jpg

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a262/Ferror/rFactor/Historix_cars8.jpg

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a262/Ferror/rFactor/Historix_cars9.jpg

Quite a difficult car to drive, but I might have to work on the set up a bit. The springs seem to be a bit too soft by default. Plenty of oversteer but hard to catch!

Last car for today was the 911RS 2.8 on the Lienz track:

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a262/Ferror/rFactor/Historix_cars11.jpg

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a262/Ferror/rFactor/Historix_cars12.jpg

I don't own one of these and have never driven a Porsche but from all the tests and stories I've read this might well be the best simulated 'neun-elfer' I've had in any sim so far!
It handled exactly like I expected a lightweight racing 911 to handle; great fun!

The Piper/Attwood 412P round the default Monza track:

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a262/Ferror/rFactor/412P2.jpg

Once you get used to the lack of grip and downforce compared to today's cars and get used to sliding around the corners, these cars are real fun!

I did remove the 'grinding tranny' mod because I didn't like the head shake effect you get as a penalty for messing up a gear change.

Loving the Fords and this one makes a nice change.
Running around Mills ['My' test track] at the moment but it will fit into the Targa scenario very well as it raced there in 1964 or 1965.

This is a truck in comparison! GTR Evo, Road America.

:icon_lol: Been there, done that!

Some of the cars have the brake balance set too far to the rear, and the Alpine A310 has some odd cornering behaviour as it tends to lift the inner front wheel off the ground. The BMW CSL's are OK. The Dodge Charger drives like the queen Mary! The small Fiat Abarths are fun to slide around the RoC tracks.

Alright wombat and Ferry, here's a little test about another classic for rFactor. Let's see if you can guess the name of this car- if you do, I'll let you know where you can get it plus a brand new virtual Lola for wombat!!;)

This from the front-

Wombat, you can get rid of the LM70 mod if you still have it and install this instead!

http://www.drivingitalia.net/forum/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=729

Based off of their work for F1C, the guys from CSGT, ported these over to rFactor, a much better job then the LM70 mod.

The McLaren and the Lola are part of the CAN-AM mod version 5.5 which can be found here-

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=HAMUIYSE

Try them on any version of Riverside, but watch out if you give them too much throttle too quickly, you'll spin like a top,lol The M8 has several engine choices in the upgrades, the highest Hp version is a massive handful!

That's because it wasn't in the original conversion! I asked around at another website if someone would concider doing it, and they did!!!!!!!!!! Its never been in any of the other conversions either. Once loaded in the sim, and you are ready to test it, go to the garage and reset the suspension settings. 585 for front and back makes for one stiff ride,LOL Its like a jet powered brick at those settings. Also, (I'll check for a link) get the version of LeMans for the 60's or 70's(No chicane on the end of the straight). See how well the cars handle at the end of the long straight, at top speed, they can become very loose.
Not going to show any pics of myself trying to make that turn, its not pretty!!!!

The Mk IV, plugs right in. Just copy it to your installation, no need to edit anything, if you have the mod installed, its not a stand- alone car.

It was eddie.
Turned that 600E into a canoe, with a little extra assistance I hasten to add.
I've dug up some negatives from the race, will post them shortly.
Long story short: I was running my [almost brand new] ANF1 Elfin 600E Waggot in the 1969 'Gold Star' round at Sandown Park.
Doing rather well, actually leading the small engined class, when I hung it out a bit too far [I always prefer a 'taily' car!] and collected a gentle nudge from behind.
Shipped the car back to Elfin for a complete rebuild and headed back to Vietnam for my third tour, it seemed to be the safe option!
