Ive been doing textures for some time slowly teaching myself but, I seem to get this problem regularly. After I paint something and load it they slowly start getting colored squares just showing up. Does anyone know what this is or what im doing wrong?

DXT compression corruption I think, every time you save as a DXT it gets worse, do all your paint in 32 bit format and only save as DXT when you are satisfied, also keep a copy of your 32 bit paint.

A couple of saves as DXT3 will soon make a mess of it.

Thanks!:salute: whats the advantage of saving in DXT on your final version? just curious

You reduce the corruption to practically nothing personally I stick with 32 bit, DXT reduces the file size by compression thats where corruption creeps in.

TG, you never mentioned if you are using a layered paint template?, or are you using the .BMP files that Milton had originally supplied? IF you are using the original .BMP's, I'll assume you're re-using them for your paints also? If so, that's where your corruption transpires from.

Do the suggestion Rich mentions and save from the templates in 32bit. Then convert to DXT3 as your last save within DXTBMP or whatever you're using.

Just noticed I had previously saved the front half as DXT3 and the rear half as 32bit and was only experiencing the problem with the front.
