Can any one tell me what programs I need to build an aircraft, to paint it, to make an air file, to make a panel, to make a sound file, to make an aircraft cfg file, to make my own complete airport and scenery, to make my own flight plans, and everything I need to import in to Combat Flight Simulator? Please

Also, can anyone tell me how I can have multiple monitors show a different view at the same time? Please

I could be facetious and say all you need is a web browser to find the answers, lol!

First you need the Aircraft and Vehicle SDK, the Mission Editing SDK and the Mission Builder SDK, all from the Microsoft CFS3 Insider (http://www.microsoft.com/games/combatfs3/downloads.aspx#sdk) site.

Next you need gmax from TurboSquid (http://www.turbosquid.com/gmax) (free) to build models - aircraft, buildings, vehicles. You'll need a half-decent paint program which can handle layers and alpha channel for the artwork: Paint.NET (http://www.getpaint.net/) and Gimp (http://www.gimp.org/downloads/) are free, Paintshop Pro is reasonably priced in payware (especially secondhand) and there's always Photoshop if you have the readies.

.AIR files can be created with AirWrench (payware) or the Flight Dynamics Workbook (free, if you have MS Excel) - both from Gerry Beckwith's Mudpond (http://www.mudpond.org/) site - AAM (http://www.flightsim.com/kdl.php?fid=139530) (free) or AirEd (http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/syb2.cgi?section=cfs&file=aired.zip) (free). Aircraft cfg files need ... Notepad and that's all! That said I like XML Wrench (http://www.xmlwrench.com/) (free) for editing the .XDP damage files.

Building airfields is Pat Pattle's speciality and you'll find more info from him in the downloads here at SOH. Sound files I know nothing about, sorry! Nor separate views on multiple monitors; that's something I think is possible in FSX but not in CFS3.

2D Panels are a feature of Flight Simulator 8, 9 and an option in FSX, but they're entirely missing from CFS3; the 3D virtual cockpit is all we get.

Hope this helps! I should also say you need a fair helping of free time and large quantities of blood, toil, tears and sweat... (W.S. Churchill)

:EDIT: I'd also echo the advice from elsewhere to check out FSDeveloper (http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/index.php)

Hi Roger, ambitous plan you have sir!

What sort of things do you have in mind? The majority of the major ww2 aircraft are already represented in cfs3. For airfields most of the UK main fighter airfields from the BoB era are modelled and a handfull of later war bomber or transport ones. If they're not medelled they exist is the sim using generic representations. Same goes for mainland europe but apart from one or two they are all generic.

I think Major Maggee has multiple monitors set up.

Pat :)

dear Roger, you must make a choice, because the work is very addictive, if you're working on it!, maybe you leave a plane, but you may leave everything up! .. Choose 3D modeling, the rest can be done by boss" Sim Outhouse" who will be happy to work on a new model:salute:

cher Roger, vous devez faire un choix, parce que le travail est très prenant, si vous travaillez sur tout!, peut-être vous laisserez un avion, mais vous risquez de tout laisser tomber! .. Choisissez la modélisation 3D, le reste peut être fait par les boss de «Sim Outhouse» qui seront heureux de travailler sur un nouveau modèle

hi Roger1077,
several people have posted threads about their multiple monitor setups for CFS3. It didn't seem too hard, from their account. Its something i would like to do one day.
