My wonderful wife gave me a present to go up and fly a plane so today it happened. I told the instructor that I wanted to fly out to Fall city..lol...why not, I do it all the time in flight sim so off we went. We took off around 9:30 am from Boeing field (had a little ice on the plane so had to set it in the sunshine to make sure it all melted away). We had sunny conditions with some ground fog. He let me have the controls on take off and what a blast, you could just feel the power in the engine and the plane just wanted up in the air. Just after take off he took back the controls and got us away from the airport and then handed the Cessna 172 back over to me. He had me do turns, one 360 and altitude changes. Could not believe how stable the plane was compared to flight sim and much much much easier to hold altitude and airspeed. Anyways we went out to Fall city then south to Auburn and then back to land in which he did all the work there. The only thing I had issues with and I knew I would have issues with was ATC. Everyone in such a hurry speaking I could not make out much....lol. Otherwise trip was a blast and i do recommend to all who have not tried. They did not try to sell me the rest of the classes at the end so no hard sell..just go up and have fun and I sure did. Also got to take my brother along for free and he had a great time as well...:icon_lol::icon_lol::icon_lol: Big smile on my face and what a memory!!!!!!!!!!! http://i721.photobucket.com/albums/ww215/limjack/cessna1.jpghttp://i721.photobucket.com/albums/ww215/limjack/172cessna018.jpghttp://i721.photobucket.com/albums/ww215/limjack/172cessna016.jpghttp://i721.photobucket.com/albums/ww215/limjack/172cessna016.jpghttp://i721.photobucket.com/albums/ww215/limjack/cessna2.jpghttp://i721.photobucket.com/albums/ww215/limjack/cessna3.jpg

Not the best pics...I had a gopro strapped on my head so it just filmed away while I was flying. The camera ran out of memory by the time we headed back to Land. Jim

What a great gift!

Unfortunately....that's the same thing that happened to me....now, some 500 hours later.......

I don't even want to talk about what that cost.

As you noticed, the aircraft is exceptionally stable, easy to fly, and better graphics than the flight sim.

No hard sell is needed after that experience.

Indeed!!!!

Thanks all for your words, my wife is very happy to support my hobby and give me a peak at the real deal as well. I have always woundered the difference between flight sim and the real thing as well.
One thing I noticed while being up there it was a bit hard to see other aircraft but did manage to find two GA flying around the same area as I was.

LOL TeaSea.........Yes, graphics much better and heavens forbid "stutters" in a real flight.

Jimjack - what a GREAT experience that must have been. I am totally envious. One (of the numerous) reasons I fly FS is that, for medical reasons, I can never fly for real. I don't get many chances to go up as a passenger but when they come along you can bet your butt that I do my best to make it happen. Thanks for the boss (oh, god, how old am I?) photos.
