Saw a few pics of the real thing ages ago, was under the impression it was a one off until I read this*. So me thinks I may have found a new project... built a Hummel a few years back and want a bird of my own, this one kinda has me drooling :jump:

Since it is an aerobatic model - how about its flight model ?

Can it do stalls, sideslips and spins well ?

What is the handling like compared to the RealAir Decathlon ?

Any link to a product manual ?

Graphically looks good to me.

Any info appreciated !

EDIT: Wait a sec....if Pam did the FM that would be all I need to know. Did she ?

Barnes, heres a trick of mine for alignment, on join areas alternate 1pixel in size squares e.g. black>white>Black etc... allows you to see and count from current where you need to be.....

i'm working on a few paints G-TWST was one of them, but i'll gladly let you take that one :salute: (Anything to cut my workload :icon_lol: J/K)

enjoy her all..... :jump:

EDIT: forgot to add guys, i'm planning to do a load of paints so if you have an idea let me know! :salute:

built a Hummel a few years back

Wow really, which did you build? The bird or the cruiser. I really want to build me one. I just love the curves of that plane. Did you actually fly it? Engine? Easy to build?

Hi Anneke,
it was the Bird. It was college project for one of the lecturers, his retirement was coming up and it was going to be a leaving present. Unfortunatly he died shortly before he was due to leave and before we finnished. The airframe as far as I know is still sitting in the hangar more or less complete waiting on an engine, plan was to put a 32hp 1/2 VW in her, whether it was ever procured I'm not sure. Asuming its in the same condition as I last saw it it shouldn't take too much to get her airworthy.

As for difficulty, the drawings leave a bit to be desired but its certainly doable if you know your way around a workshop. Ailerons were a bit of a laugh to do accurately, 6' long and a 4' bending press :mixedsmi:

Because of high gloss on the fuselage, I'd suggest darken all colours: gold, stripes and lettering. Looks amazing already.

Did one of you have .spec-maps ? If i look at the texture.cfg inside of the texture-folders i see there should be one, but i did not have it. Installed and re-installed it twice - no spec's.

Edit.: also notice that the .bump-maps are missing

fallback.1=..\..\IRIS Silence Twister UL260I RG\texture._Bump
fallback.2=..\..\IRIS Silence Twister UL260I RG\texture._Cockpit
fallback.3=..\..\IRIS Silence Twister UL260I RG\texture._Common

OK my pilot is still green, I reinstalled with no joy?

The reason your pilot is green, is due to mass air sickness. Stay on the ground. If you don't choose to stay on the ground, fly alone! :icon_lol:

Just kidding!!

Just downloaded the Installer.exe again, same result - in the IRIS Silence Twister UL260I RG - Folder are only the subfolders for cockpit, common, G-FUUN and XB-JAV. That is strange - if someone has contact to IRIS via facebook - can you report that - I have no facebook-account. Thanks.

OK - got response from David - there are no .spec-, .bump- or special night-textures. It seems that the entrys in the texture.cfg confuses me and may be tho one or other customer.

Yes Matt- your paints are an insparation to me. But I found other late model exhausts to use.

Here it is again if you would prefer a slightly darker colour...

Beautiful bird!
How does it compare to the Christen Eagle either in real life or the Iris version. Just not familiar with this aircraft.
I love to fly the Iris Eagle from tower view with smoke on and do my own little airshow.

the non retractable gear varian reminds me a bit of earlier Reno F1 Pylon racers :)

at the moment it is out of my range (price wise) but I will definately purchase when it is possibly

could repainters paint a racing livery? just want to see how it will look!

best regards

The fake exhausts do add a nice element. Gives it that strictly functional military look.

I just picked up this little bird and I seem to have an issue with the landing gear. Some times I can get the gear up but then I can't get it down.
Any one else with this issue? All other planes are fine so it seems to be an issue with my Twister.
But I real am enjoying this one.

warchild
November 2nd, 2011, 11:56
In general, that sounds like what happens when you raise the gear at too high a speed. Try raising it the moment your plane leaves the ground. That should help with dropping the gear on landing..

I find that i have to always use the gear switch in the vc - pressing key G never works for me - same goes for flaps.

I can get the gear up with the VC switch but not down. And i tried a real slow late try with the vc switch. Stumped.. I'll try the Iris forum.
Thanks

To get the gear back down you have to right click the mouse on the gear switch.

I'm not able to check right now, but I believe you have to right click on the gear switch to lower the gear.

Thanks that was it. Is this true of all VC ? I'm still figuring the sim out. Thanks all

Some VC's use left click only to cycle positions, some use this left/right click to alternate. The manuals of recent Iris aircraft usually say which convention is used.

Is there anyway to get rid of the right/leftclick on the switches? As it is now i canīt use the switches on my joystick for the gear or flaps, but have to click the switches in the vc with the mouse.
