China Military Museum

This is my last day in Beijing before heading back to the States tomorrow, so i stopped by the Military Museum for a final look (last time i was there was in 05).

There are definitely some interesting stuff here, including a pretty good size collection of tanks, armors, etc...and just tons and tons of guns (lots of rare German and Russian weapons). If you are in Beijing, it's worth a few hours to stop by; besides, entry price is free! :)

btw, does anyone know what prototype is featured in picture 4 (33027)? I sat in the cockpit later (shot 7), man...that thing is tight.

That's exactly what it is. The Q-5 was a development of the MiG-19 with a different nose. They did the same thing with the MiG-21.

The one on the right is a U-2; I'm assuming crashed over China or one of its allies and rebuilt.

I'm not sure what the one to the left of it is, though. Anyone? A drone, maybe?

If I recall correctly the U-2 was a taiwanese aircraft and shot down over China.

I see the prop blades of a P-51D to the left of the Sabre in the first pic. Whats that twin engine a/c in the background behind the nanchang?

that little thing next to the shot down U-2 is some type of UAV. The caption just said "US Pilotless Plane." I believe the date was 1969.

I'm not sure what that twin engine plane is either. Looked like a combination of the German G-2 and some Russian parts...here's another pic of it....

Probably a Teledyne Ryan AQM-34 Firebee drone, a recce UAV.

Of the set of pictures, the F-86 and Beaver in Nationalist Chinese markings stood out to me; odd for a Beijing museum (and not all shot up).
