Up on Avsim.su now is a fresh version of Vladimir Zhyhulskiy's great An-2. He has upgraded its visual model and VC greatly, and includes now several more variants and extra features. There is also very good systems simulation.

The link here! (http://www.avsim.su/f/fs2004-originalnie-samoleti-40/antonov-an-2-versiya-2011-dlya-fs-9-40620.html)

I'm working now also on a brand new paintkit to make many paints for this. :running:

It's an old favourite, looking forward to meeting the update, and also the forthcoming repaints!

Oh my! These gals are awesome. Four different models with some very gool animations + a paint kit. These are definite keepers. But what else do you expect from Vladimir?

I put up the lights mods after I tire of flying around:icon_lol:

Excellent !
I hope he has removed the animation that makes the wheel chocks appear when you lower the mixture... I'd like to get some altitude without any silly object following me :D

Wow!! Thanks for the heads up Lazerbeak, looking forward to trying this one out - difficult to see how he can improve on the last version!

Very, very nice model. Wheel chocks dissapear whenh you turn on the Nav lights. Okay.

Anybody know which "default" key would dissapear the copilot?

Try water rudder (shift+W).

Chocks appear if lights are turned off... I discovered operating lights from the 2D panel allows independent switching.
I'm sure too, there are prop and VCprop fixes out there, I found an old external one.
Anyone figured out how to lose the copilot in the VC?

Lovely to fly, this bird.

Be doggoned if I can figure how to download the file(s)! Can anyone give a linguistically challenged hubcap (me) a steer?

There is an English version button in the upper right hand corner(?) of the page. Makes life a whole lot easier for us linguistically challenged folks.

Shift+W will remove the copilot, but is actually used to remove ALL pilots, including in spot view.
The manual says:
If you are irritated with the right pilot - disconnect
his{its}corresponding key (at me it K - a default I do not remember).
and that's what I'm after.

External done, work on new VC textures begins.

...you certainly aren't wasting any time!

A truth told, this is an old paintkit and livery I made for its prior version, now updated and improved for this new version. :)

One aspect of this model which is a shame however is that it can't work with the MDLMat programme. I would like to eliminate a pronounced shine on the model, but it's the case that MDLMat won't read it. If anyone figures it out how to de-shine the model, please let me know!

Yeah that's a bummer. Every once in a while a model reacts that way. Interesting thing it is not an old MDL. It was created this month.

Even MDLC will not work with these MDL files. Nor can I extract SCASM code from them. I have no idea how these model files were compiled, but they sure are tweak proof! Which is a shame as that super shine kills the planes for me....will stick with Piglet's AN-2.

And not just shine, but this model has many untextured parts, that are relying on colouring the model itself. With MDLMat changing the colours would be possible, to make a more realistic shade, but I can't with this An-2. It's a pity because it would help a lot in the VC.

Still a nice model, but I wish I could to tweak it...!

Lazerbeak - I managed to de-shine the model with the simple 'shiny' utility available here at SOH:

Worked for me..

... now if someone could only do something with the VC prop !

edit: my link doesn't seem to be working. Just search for 'shiny' by wuhwuzdat.

I think that was the utility I had used for the prior version of the model. I'm glad to hear it still works. Still a pity that it cannot change model parts colours, but it's better than nothing. I hope someday a new version will return this ability (it's unlikely because all of his models behave this way).

Maybe I didn't search properly, but I can't find the file? I searched "shiny" but it didn't appear.

Lazerbeak - just go to the Warbirds Archive and search by author for wuhwuzdat. He only has 3 files up - it's the middle one.

If I'm correct this is the version that will not work on Windows 7/64bit. I used it all the time back in the XP days but alas no longer viable.

Here's an idea. Can someone convert the models under in a non windows 7/64 environment and make 'em available on SOH for download? I'm pretty sure Vladimir would give his approval.
