Gents,

Could I get a few recommendations here - I'm considering taking the plunge. Thanks in advance.

For payware REX with Overdrive seems to be the best, but I don't own it... yet! :mixedsmi:

Xplore Environment, if you can find it.

Other than that HDE v2 from FS9 works nicely in FSX (sans sky textures).
Then again, so do most FS9 cloud add-ons.

All FS9 cloud addons will work in FSX.
I recommend the HDE package from Pablo Diaz if you have a powerfull video card. Else, you might want to try FS Skyworld 2004, which brings in MUCH more choice.
Don't install the sky textures, as they are not compatible with FSX.

However, the sky textures from the HDE packages of Pablo have been extracted, converted to FSX and uploaded to flightsim.com in an independent package for FSX users. :)

Go with REX Overdrive. It includes a huge selection of Sky, Water, Clouds, and Airport textures. The newer "overdrive" textures are phenomenal.

What's that? It must be obscure? A search with that name resulted in no hit's.

Thanks guys. I'm leaning towards REX 2.0. Does it work with Ground Environment X and Ultimate Terrain X? Or, are there conflicts?

Yeah, it's fairly obscure and I can't fin it on Flightsim anymore (where it used to be).

I've uploaded it here:

It got packed in 7zip's native .7z format because it offers superior compression.

Hi, Daube, thank you so much for that hint!
I own FEX since it was released, but I always wanted Paplos sky textures. Now the combination looks almost like Constable painting.

2 good tips in this thread: use Pablo's clouds, and the converted sky textures.
Never knew that, but I tried it right away.
Thanks a lot, FSX = 10x better now.

Thanks Bjoern, much appreciated!
