Had a fun day yesterday at the Aviodrome Museum at EHLE together with Cees Donker, Huub Vink, Francois and Ome Joop where a small show was organised. Great weather and some interesting aircraft that we do not usually see over here!

The museum's restored and almost complete Noorduyn Norseman:

But the real star was this P-38 Lightning, the only one flying in Europe and currently owned by the 'Flying Bulls'; this aircraft is the former Reno racer White Lightning!

A few HDR shots which show off the polished skin nicely:

And finally another former Reno racer restored to a more original condition; the 'Trusty Rusty' owned by the Early Birds Foundation at EHLE:

It was a nice day again. It was good to see you all again and missed those who weren't there. Despite the nice aircraft there, the highlights for me were the presence of "Trusty Rusty" which was shown to the public this way for the first time (I assume).

And the meeting we had with Mr Dutch avaiation books and painting; Mr Thijs Postma. For those who don't know him (which might the majority here). This person has written many books about (Dutch) aviation which were illustrated with his own brilliant paintings. Most of you might actually know his work because he did a lot of art work for model kits as well.

I have bought a nice reproduction from one of his paintings. It represents a Swiss Bf109-E2 flying over a lake in the Alps. It is signed by "the master" himself and after it has received a nice frame it will get a nice place in my "cave".

Cheers,
Huub

It looks like he is playing the role of a German WWII military police Feldwebel judging by the 'gorget' around his neck and the traffic control baton across the handlebars.

My late father 'liberated' an almost identical pair of binoculars during WWII, although his had leather trim on the hand grip areas and a matching leather carrying case (he claimed they were 'officer' grade). On his return to Blighty he gave them to my grandmother (his mother) so she could use them to watch garden birds, something she did for over 50 years afterwards. Hmmm, I wonder who inherited them after she passed a few years ago.

Pitty I couldn't make it yesterday, I had a PhotoVoltaic installation installed, and the first 10 kWh have been generated ;-)
I had a look at Lelystad today, and all planes did a display today as well.
Ferry, did you also make a SOH family portrait, that's always nice ;-)
attached a pic shot from the DC2 "Uiver" in formation with the P-38 and Piaggio
(not by me:kilroy:)

Neat to see the Flamant in there amongst the usual suspects.

Great Pics Ferry!

I love the highly polished finish on the DC-2, but my favourite will have to be the Dassault MD311.
I've never seen one before...
Looked all over the web for an fs9 model, but unfortunately nobody has bothered with this beautiful aircraft. Such a shame.

Thanks for sharing!

I agree...

The MD-311 is an exceptionally esthetically pleasing aircraft. Really beautiful.

Sorry Rob, no family picture this time. Although Cees Donker took all our pictures and might do something with Photoshop (He promised to make me at least 10 years younger

Trusty Rusty blew up its rear tire while taxying tp the display area. It was repaired in less than 15 minutes!

And not part of the program, but this display team had to perform somewhere else. However when they return they did a low pass in close formation.

Ferry, Huub and Ome Joop! No photoshopping this time. :kilroy:And I won't make Huub look younger. Huub was illegal behind a fence when I shot the pic with the JU52 behind him. He wanted to take a picture of Valkenburg as it was depicted on the floor.
