We need updated aircraft from the 1930's to use in updated SCW campaigns. I know some of them are still in good shape and one or two have probably just been redone, but there might be a better airfile or something? I did not list all of the variants needed and please feel free to add to the list. Any pre-WWII aircraft would be fun to use in these missions, but be realistic. I mean come on, a p51 dogfighting an I-15?

We are looking for planes that look good, have SCW markings, give good frame rates, and have updated Dp and Air files. If you already know of one that fits this discription please post.

The following are player's planes:
He51
109B,D,E,&F
BR19
Polkarpov I-15
Dewiotine-372
Polkarpov I-16
ND-52
Cr-32
hs123
G23
I-15
Po-2
Or anything else of the era you like to fly

The following need to be maximized for use as AI:
SB2
Sm79,Sm81&Sm82 (especially first two)
Stuka (especially b variant)
Do17
G23 Delfin
Ju52
He-111
Martin Baltimores
I-152
I-153
Potez-54
Potez-540
Fi-156(I think there is a recent update, not sure)
Po-2
109B,D,E,&F
R5_USSR353 (R5 Russian Bomber)
Natacha
BR-19
ND-52
I-15
I-16
He-51
Dewiotine-372
Cr-32
AFM-VK-S-231.1 (not sure what this is but its called for in a campaign)

P.S. - A Bf-109 'Fredrich' would not have been there in 1939, it was undergoing testing at the tail end of the Battle of Britain, late in October, 1940.

*The Henschel Hs-123 does not have SCW markings, but it can always be painted.

The Martin Baltimore ( or any Martin bomber) wasn't an SCW participant. The Nationalists initially mistakenly put this moniker on Russian-built SB-2s. Probably mostly likely a propaganda ploy to infer active U.S. involvement as anything else. They also referred to I-15s as 'Curtiss' fighters. The S-231 was a Czech biplane which was used minimally, if at all. The same is true for the I-153. Here is a website with good info on the participants:

I wish that I could help with the project but my home PC is still 'dead in the water'

I was wondering why one of the Legion Condor missions referred to seeing the Baltimores bombing something, but then, the campaign had an SB-2 instead.

Put me down on the list for the He-46, & He-115. I will also look over the various Ju-52s, some of the older models had various markings and one had the ventral dustbin underneath - The Hauptman Rami Ju-52 upgrade aircraft could be used as a flyer with the other models as wingmen to help the frame-rates. If anyone wants some particular Ju-52s added let me know as I still have the template that I used for all the Ju-52 skins.

Once I finish checking my resources will also see if there are some quick upgrades of the other aircraft that I could do.

I once built a campaign for the SCW, but as the country file conflicted with other SCW campaigns by Jack Fola, so I never uploaded it. It is a great time in history to model given the numerous types of aircraft used by both sides.

Most of the aircraft I used were FS 7 (FS 2000) creations, but they worked well enough and are still the only options available for some of the more unusual types.

The SCW airfields by Maskrider are superb and offer great scenery, although they are few in number compared to Xavier's newer renditions which may be GSL. My memory fails me on the issue for now.

I used Rhumbaflappy's nice fall textures to replicate Spain's arid environment and they really looked good for the Iberian Peninsula.

Here are a few shots of the HS 123 in action. Obio did a complete update of the old Alphasim model a few years ago.

Silvia (Piloto Azul) at one time had several Spanish men of war uploaded to one of the major sim sites, but I don't know if they are still available or not.

They included:

MN Baleares, a heavy cruiser
MN Crucero, a light cruiser
MN Dato, a destroyer
MN Espanya, a battleship
MN Submarine

MR Cervantes, a light cruiser
MR Churruca, a destroyer
MR Jaime I, a battleship

Kdriver- I think maybe I saw the site but its been awhile, very useful.

Jagd- I just cobbled a country file together that has two Nationalists entries and two Republican entries. I will use this install for nothing but SCW. But, I think the best thing to do is change all the campaigns so that #19 is Nationalist and #18 in Republican. I think this is best because I hope to eventually have a Spanish language pack for them. On the other hand, you can still assign the language to multiple entries in the country file. So, its probably not that big a deal.

I think I have all of Silvia's things needed for the campaigns. Achim has some as well. If they need to be uploaded we just need to get permission.

And Jagd, if you have a campaign to upload for us I say GET 'ER DONE!

Depending on my deployment schedule this next year, and the needed replacement of my PC with a new unit, I'll probably update it to use more readily available planes. My first step will be to get the alliances of my units in sync with your efforts, so I'll update the .msn files to 18 and 19 on the Country File.

Hi Jagdfleiger,

Obio did do a nice update for the Alpha HS-123. But if I may clarify, prior to that I did a repaint and some tweaks for the dp so the model could be used in the SCW campaigns I was building. Your pics are the model and skin I did for my HS-123 update.

It's not a big deal to me BTW - I only mention it because while Obio's update is much more extensive, anyone who downloads his update is not going to find a SCW paint scheme with it.

The skin was my first attempt at painting a CFS2 plane and definitely crude by my current standards, but if I'm not mistaken, it's still the only SCW Alpha HS-123. Unfortunately the texture files are the old 8 bit format and won't work on Obio's model. So if anyone wants a SCW livery, that's where they can get it. It is still posted here in the Archives.

Do We have a SCW SB-2 in republican markings

Jagdflieger
August 25th, 2011, 19:31
Yes, but as I recall, it is pretty hard on frame rates. Still, with newer computers it may work.

It is by:

Rafael Furió aka FAE_Gavilan

Look at the larger sim sites for: TU_SB2.zip

Another shot, this time from my computer.

This one is by Silvia (Piloto Azul) and can be used in numbers.

That's Silvia's desert Stuka alright, and there was also a European version. Not one of Silvia's best efforts though. I reserve this one for AI targets.

Most of her work was really good, but there were a few models that just weren't up to her usual standard. So I don't mean it as a criticism. Just typical learning curve experience. Towards the end of her freeware production she was turning out some first class models.

Achim gave me a ton of Silvia's planes, vehicles and ships so if there is something missing from the SOH library let me know. I know that most of it has already been uploaded but a lot of it has been in my personal archives for years. I may be taking something for granted. Has the Dragon Rapide been uploaded? Not sure whose it was.

Do keep going erufle though I had best stay out of it at least for the near term. Looks like you're in good (best?) hands.
