I promised Iwo Mustangs, so here's the first: #44-73623 #300 was flown by Major Harry C. Crim of the 531st FS/ 21st FG, the only ace of the 21st.
The name of the aircraft referred to the length of the VLR mission, spending over 8 hours in the cramped cockpit of a P-51 can not have been much fun...

It's still wip, as I seem to have been a bit too enthousiastic with paint on the ailerons...

Can you imagine, three hours like this, or more, to get to Japan, and then three more to get back....

There's a few now at OZx, but my new internet connection is sloooooooooooow, so the rest follows tomorrow.
No pinup on My Achin!, as I couldn't find a photo of the pinup...

now where does this pic come from?.
I have since found a picture of the aircraft with the girl on the side, but never one with the girl on the gear doors. The girl on the side was apparently overpainted later on, since I do have a very clear pic of the side with all the mission and victory markings, but without the pinup.
I could do an update of course...
