Okay, so I like it because it is complete "entertainment" for me.... Def. one of those shows you don't have to have a brain cell to watch... But I think the show is hilarious!

So the fam & I are going up to the Detroit area next week for the big Thunder Over Michigan show and thought, hey, I could swing by there!!! That'd be the first, that is, going to a place where a reality, (please note use of italics there), show is filmed..... Any chance anyone has been there? Or maybe you've been to the Pawn Stars place in Vegas???

I like "Pawn Stars" but like most other knockoff TV shows, Hardcore Pawn doesn't do a thing for me.

I've seen both shows. Vickie watches them while I'm on here. The one on the history channel (in Las Vegas) is the better of the two. There's a spin off that concerns a restoration shop that I like better.

My brain simply refused to read the title of the show right. It saw the word "Hardcore" and skipped right by "Pawn" and went straight to "Porn". A reality show called "Hardcore Porn"...that's a show I could get excited about.

Caught an episode of "Pawn Stars" at my in-laws and was very surprised; now I understand why it's on The History Channel.

My mind IS the gutter!

I miss the way The History Channel used to be. Back when the channel actually aired shows dealing with HISTORY. Documentaries and shows about the Civil War, WW1, WW2 and the like. Now if you want to watch real HISTORY shows, you have to subscribe to a premium version of The History Channel. Now, there is little history on the History channel....all we get are "reality" shows like Pawn Stars, American Pickers, Swamp Loggers. I like Pawn Stars and American Pickers, but I miss seeing history on The History Channel.

And I remember when The Learning Channel used to air programs you could actually learn something by watching. Now, it's Jon and Kate Plus 8...well now that Jon and Kate are divorced and Kate believes she is all that, the show is called "Kate...a woman who loves herself way too much....and her 8 future therapy patients."

Yipper!! :icon29:

I like Pawn Stars to a point. The finding out what it is part is cool. Chumlee is a riot. The part I can't stand is the customer wants $10,000 for his item, that's really not what he thinks it is. It's appraised for $1,000, but Rick will only give the guy $10.00 because he "has to make a profit". And the sucker sells it anyway! Happens 95% of the time! Are these people that hard up for cash?

"Reality shows" are so out of control! I mean what's next up for exploitation?

"American Nosepickers?"

Watched it a couple times, but don't really make a habit of it.. Its kind of fun to watch people flip out, prefer Pawn Stars.. Its shows like Parking Wars, Hard Core Pawn and Storage Wars that are like a guilty pleasure... Would never go out of my way to watch them, but if they are on you find yourself watching... :173go1:

Same here, just another knockoff. I like American restoration, the guy does
wonders with old Coke machines. :)

Next week on Hardcore Pawn, the team buys a B-17 ball turret from a guy passing by.

The Harrisons of Pawn Star are like comfort food,...predictable and consistent. From the 'Ol' Man' to dufus Chumley. Plus,...one can learn a lot from the experts Rick brings in to do a tighter evaluation on the piece to be sold or pawned From the item's history to if it's legit or not.
Hard Core Pawn with the Gold family is different. Much different. They're dealing with desperate individuals who need so many bucks to get by for the month. And as we well know,...it can get nasty. Which of course,....makes me appreciate the situation the Harrisons have going in their Las Vegas shop. I settle for 'Pawn Stars.'

It's almost as if Detroit can't catch a break. "Detroit 1-8-7" was one of the few TV series I watched. It was a good show with some decent acting; I guess it wasn't glittering and sexy enough for audiences.

While I enjoyed the drama/acting, it was tough seeing the advanced state of urban decay. Having been stationed on a Buoy Tender/Icebreaker stationed at the foot of Mt. Elliott street many moons ago, I was familiar with the areas where most of the filming took place.

Four months ago, while visiting family near Toledo, we spent a day driving around Detroit. It's very depressing to see how far it's fallen. I don't believe I could watch Hard Core Pawn.
