Hi guys, ive just uploaded a new version of the Wittmundhafen scenery to the library. and its a lot better than the one i released a year a go. mostly custom buildings, better tree's and lots of them and ground textures, ive also used Mitsuya Hamaguchi's Unimog and Rosenbauer Panther fire truck as static verhicles and ive included some custom textures for the panther, very kindly painted by Andreas Koch which you'll have to add, check out the screen shots, Thanks Andy :icon29:

I hoping this should be fine on frames but you can remove the tree bgl if there are problems.

the Ai i use is the same as the old version but if you dont have that installed, you'll need---
1- ai_f-4c.zip by Fernando Martinez found at Flightsim.com

2- f4aipack.zip by Klaus Hinkel, all you need from this pack are the JG71 Richthofen textures by Andy Nott.
Do not install the Afcad or the traffic file, just the texture's

You should have some basic MAIW packs installed but if you have'nt, you only really need---
ggse_i3.zip FS2004 Military Ground Service Equipment Library by John Stinstrom

All these addons are easy to get from flightsim, oh and if you have the ai Transell lurking on you install, cant remember the designer, then that'll show too

Tired of dull grey Rhinos?
Here's a little contribution to Ian's awesome Wittmund update:

http://i603.photobucket.com/albums/tt112/wildbillkelso_berlin/Starfighter/2485_1.jpg

http://i603.photobucket.com/albums/tt112/wildbillkelso_berlin/Starfighter/2485_2.jpg

Unfortunately, the CaptainSim F-104 doesn't offer the usual F-104G interceptor configuration with two Sidewinders on the wing tips and two inner external tanks, so you'll have to decide between this full-armed version and the two- or four-tanker (declaring it as ferry configuration will help...).

Just some final tweaking needed.

Cheers,
Markus.

Two thumbs up Ian!

As Wittmunhafen is not too far from Jever, thirsty pilots can drive into town and get a cold Jever right at the brewery. In fact, there is some JG 71 memorabilia on the walls of the bar.

Too busy beating up the JG 71 base with my JG 73 Sabres to drive the Panther. Perhaps after I get grounded for my aerobatics over the base I can get to the fire truck.

Michael Pearson has created this beautifull old repaints (in the background). You'll find it at AVSIM. Also MAIW traffic is possible, but be carefull. No place to park your aircraft ;-)

Hi Andy :wavey: norm 72 is my favorite.

if you do install the F4's from the MAIW German typhoon pack, install the package into a temp folder and move everthing over by hand but dont include ther afcad for ETNT, that'll really screw things up, like Andy said, the traffic file for the MAIW ETNT has about 30 ac, my afcad has parking for about 15, you can see where im coming from :mixedsmi:, you may want to get yourself traffic tools and lose 15 ac or they'll be hogging all the space's.

Stuart,

Thanks for the tip. I pulled it as well as their North German light houses (Leuchttuerme) and Helgoland Island scenery out of my library. I recall seeing the Phantoms out of Wittmundhafen over the Ostfriesian and Helgoland Islands years ago so now it is nice to explore the scenery from their viewpoint.

By the way, if any of you thirsty pilots ever get to Helgoland Island (probably the most bombed island in Europe in WW II), the duty free stores there have as good a selection of Scotch outside of Scotland as there is.

Quax,

I need to reduce that file to DXT1 as my computer is challenged at times. Thanks for the tip.

Here is Helogoland from FS 9 and from a post card I picked up there.

In order to keep the skies over Wittmund busy, JG 71's F-104G '24+85' in its 1972 appearance is locked and loaded:

http://i603.photobucket.com/albums/tt112/wildbillkelso_berlin/Starfighter/2485_3.jpg

http://i603.photobucket.com/albums/tt112/wildbillkelso_berlin/Starfighter/2485_4.jpg

http://i603.photobucket.com/albums/tt112/wildbillkelso_berlin/Starfighter/2485_5.jpg

JG 71 was put into service in 1959 and originally equipped with Canadair Sabre (F-86E). In 1961 it received the traditional "Richthofen" designation.
The unit's base moved to Wittmund in 1962 and on April 9th 1963 the first F-104G Starfighter arrived, subsequently replacing the Sabre.
In the following years, the F-104Gs primarily changed their role into fighter-bombers, getting assigned to fighter-bomber wings (Jagdbombergeschwader). By 1974, all F-104G of JG 71 were replaced by F-4F Phantom II.

Upload finished.
Enjoy!

Cheers,
Markus.

Hmmm - a Wittmund time warp with retro traffic?
Sounds like a good idea to me! :jump:

A setting around 1968 with both blank metal and camo versions (and the adequate different code schemes as well) could be quite interesting.

@ Ian:
What does "CP" stand for? (presuming "Canadian Pacific" not being the correct term for it)
Where could I get the base model?

@ Quax:
Deal!
I'll provide the Zippers, you take care of the traffic file?

Aaaah - I see!
But I'm afraid a proper flightline of several CS-AI 104s could drag the framerate into a sub-zero level...
Bummer at MAIW: No dedicated 104 available there.

Seems like some more research needed...

The Owl's Nest had an AI zipper in the works.
http://www.interkultur.de/gossmann/fsx/owlai.php

The Ralf Kreibich AI collection

Several times I started to design things in GMax and FSDS without getting very far. I feel definitely more at ease in Visual Basic, PHP or with Installer scripts. Then something happened that brought me back to aircraft design.

I contacted Ralf Kreibich who had published a nice F-84 package and asked him if he could consider making an RF-84 model as well. I loved his answer - he attached the RF-84 model which was already completed.

We started a conversation, in course of which I learned that Ralf intended to step away from flight simming as a hobby. He sent me some additional aircraft. After having seen them in FS I was stunned. Such beautiful models and they should not be made available?

After I told Ralf that I feel these models should be published by all means he said that he had made up his mind and would not publish anything else. But he did send me the sources and trusted and authorized me to edit and publish them.

So here we are. My plan is to publish all of Ralf's models. I have teamed up with Ray Parker (http://rayparker-repaints.jimdo.com/), who is an artist when it comes to aircraft paintwork. He will let Ralf's models shine. I decided to start with an aircraft I was looking for since years - the F-104G Starfighter. Models that should come later include the already mentioned F-84 Thunderstreak, the RF-84 Thunderflash, the F-102 Delta Dagger and the Ja-35 Draken.

The packages will be released at The Owl's Nest.

The British Government traded Helgoland to Germany for one of the German 'Colonies' in the Pacific late in the 19th Century or early 20th Century IIRC.
Of course, I might be going through a bout of 'CRAFT Syndrome' but I think that is correct.

Very Great camou!

Indeed!
But this one belongs to the "wrong" unit:
It's JG 74, based at Neuburg/Bavaria.

I think this experimental camo will be worth getting depicted!
All I'd need is Duckie's improved paint kit for the Virtavia Rhino Pack 2 (F-4E/F model).
But since he' still fiddling with Pack 1 (F-4B/J), I'll have to be patient...

@ Ian:
This Fitter seems to bear the crest of WTD 61 ("Waffentechnische Dienststelle") on the fin, so I presume it was used for evaluation purposes after 1990.
It's a very interesting version and looks like a repaint challenge!
Maybe I should do some research upon this specific aircraft's history...

Anyone knows of a decent flyable Su-22 to take as basis?

Markus.

Update:

Wikipedia confirms my guess:

"Bei Testflügen durch die Wehrtechnische Dienststelle 61 wurden die Eigenschaften der Maschine ermittelt. Dabei wurde vor allem die Defensivsysteme und die Robustheit des Flugzeuges gelobt, während beispielsweise die Hydraulikanlage als zu schwach eingeschätzt wurde."
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suchoi_Su-22

For those of you not too familiar with the German language:
"During evaluation flights with WTD 61, the Su-22's defensive systems and the ruggedness were lauded, whereas the hydraulic systems were rated being rather weak."

Update 2:
Found a promising Su-22 at Flightsim:

Edit:
Thanks, Andy! Seems like it's the same aircraft.

It is! Itosan did one as well (so great for AI, and plenty of repaints were done for it), but Jan Moravec's is much much better as a flyer. I've loved this aircraft ever since I saw a Czech team use this for a display back at Fairford a few years back - two very big aircraft crossing at speed, with both kicking out flares, was a sight to behold. I look forward to the repaint Markus.

These are a few tweaks to my scenery recommend by others, you'll find---
1. Panther fire trucks relocated, one at each end of runway, with third remaining at fire station.
2. repositioning of static F86
3. 2 more start point/parking slots at QRA area at east end of airfield, 53 and 54 in your drop down start/parking list
4. West end of runway closed to Ai traffic, if you start from QRA area, you wont have Ai F4's coming at you from
oppersite direction
