Major Turning event in the war with Japan...Starting with ,the Doolittle Raid on Japan in April 1942 which demolished the Japanese military's perception that their homeland was immune from air attack. This gave the Nation some optimism,Then at Midway June 4 to 7 1942,it,gave the nation strong assurance that the USA was on the road to victory...Good to remember those brave kids then , In spring time,of the year,in most of these events and Springtime in their lives for those who gave it all.. For many are still alive in memory's eye of family's and loved ones, and Our nations history....So too with "D" Day ..which as we know was June 6 1944.An other Spring day!

Midway was a major turning point in the war against Nazi Germany, too. The defeat of the Japanese Navy at Midway finally convinced Stalin that Japan would have her eyes focused elsewhere in the far east and that it would be safe to accelerate mass withdrawals of Russia's Siberian Divisions to the west and use them to go on the offensive in Stalingrad as well as along the entire Russian front. Midway- and the sacrifices made by a relative handful of brave American flyers- was portentous with ramifications far beyond the Pacific.
