View Full Version : Skip view gauge

There was a a gauge discussed, I want to say here, that allows or makes flight simulator skip the (in this case) 2D panel view. I believe it came with a really big P-47 Thunderbolt project but the name of both the aircraft and gauge both escape me. Any hints would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Might have been Gnoopy's Jug - search Gnoopy here or Tom Kohler at either Flightsim or Avsim.

Come to think of it, the gauge might have been used in the Wozza-Stang...

The entry in Gnoopey's P-47 is as follows:

/ Doug Dawson's view skipper
//
gauge00=..\_DSD\dsd_view_skip!no_2d, 80, 40 ,5,5

the accompanying .txt file states:
This gauge will allow the user to prevent either the 2D Panel or the VC from being visited as views are scrolled. There are two separate gauge elements, one for each view to be skipped. It is not suggested that both gauge elements be used on the same panel - results will be unpredictable.

Please note that it is not my intent that this gauge be used by aircraft or panel designers to prevent users from experiencing views that they, the designers, find distasteful or unrealistic. This gauge is designed for end users who may wish to tailor their own FS configuration in such a way as to get the most enjoyment from it. This gauge is therefore NOT approved for distribution with any panel or aircraft package without my express consent.

It's all included in a folder named _DSD that's part of Gnoopey's P-47M

It was also released separately, but I can't remember where I got it (probably right here at SOH...)

In the attached zip are the gauge and the instructions how to install it.

Thanks Mick. Much more economical use of bandwidth to
just download the needed file. Not that I don't like the Jug. :icon_lol:

There is.
Long time ago I create versions for each views (or even 2 views) to skip.
Have to do some digging in my XML library, cause I don't think I uploaded them publically.

please let us know
if and when you find them.
i, for one, could definitely put them to use.

he's a retired air traffic controller.

Got it ......

See attached zip file.
You can configure any combination of views you want to omit.
Just open the included ViewSkip.xml with Notepad, and read the instructions.
Can't make it more simple ....:icon_lol:

Much props then Rob. :salute::salute:

I first applied it to the Iris P-40 since it does not have a 2D panel. It greatly enhances FS experience.
