:salute:I'm on short finals with a new soundset for the Hawker Seafury.
As I wish to make the sounds available to all, I need to obtain permission from David Hanvey and Paul Barry, authors of the definitive FS model for the inclusion of their starter sequence wavs. I was unable to obtain better material, these specific sounds being entirely authentic and of high quality.

I have tried contacting both Gentlemen, to no avail, using what I suspect are old addresses.

If someone has a valid e-mail I'd be very grateful. (Please PM it though, DON'T announce it here for obvious reasons).

Best Regards,
Nigel

From the Sea Fury Pilots notes the Sea fury had Coffman bang starters

Some many months/years ago, I uploaded a sound pack for the Cent engine based partly on Dave and Paul's sound pack and partly on another sound pack. Before uploading that package, I did what all tweakers and modifiers with respect for the developers do....I asked for permission to use their files and to upload them. I can't remember if it was Dave or Paul who responded and granted me permission. I don't have the e-mail addresses I used to contact them....lost when my Yahoo e-mail account was hacked and had to be dumped.

:salute: thanks for the thought Tim. Nasty business about the hack! These people should be...!!!

Obtaining permission is vital. I find that most people are always only too pleased to oblige.
But obtain, we must!

Beyond the legal aspect, its a way of showing appreciation and respect for the hard work and devotion within our community.

Nigel, in the absence of approval from the original guys, can you release the set without those particular bits? Just include a note on how a current Simmer in possession of the Sea Fury can modify the cfg file to merge the two. It sounds abit screwy but it respects the rights ofthe guys without violating any ethical thingies -- right?:isadizzy:

:wiggle: So ya do want an earfull of Centaurus! (can't say I'd blame you)

I'm sure you're right with your observation, but I'd prefer to release a complete soundset.

I think I'll sit this out therefore, and resort to your advice in the absence of an all-clear.

racartron, if you want the interim as suggested above buddy, PM me.

Nigel, have you found this file? Just the starter, not Coffman, but very good for large radial. Free to use for non-profit of course according to readme.

:salute: Thankyou for your kind help, Terry. I've just downloaded for possible use in a future project.
Paul Barry has graciously given permission for the use of the original Centaurus starter sequence.
This has been incorporated into the complete Bristol Centaurus 'Seafury' soundset uploaded today for SOH.

Best Regards;
Nigel

Wish we had a decent Seafury for FSX, I'd love to attach your soundset Nigel and do some low-level flying.:salute:

Falcon409, there was some talk and considerable enthusiasm for an FSX version;

I think the creators of the fs9 model highly underestimated their contribution. The model was way ahead of its time. Bags of talent!

For now, just hop into fs9 with the updates and give it a whirl. :salute:
