Here is a seven minutes French Ministry of Defense video taken last sunday on R91 / CDG french navy aircarft carrier when sailing for the current operations over Libya !

For those of you do not follow the news on "Pilote-Virtuel.Com" french forum be advised that :

"Thors Hammer" french develloper is still working on its future FSX Rafale Marine

Royale French Navy team future projects include :

- A Super Étendard Modernisé for FSX
- A brand new super detailed "R91 / Charles De Gaulle" aircraft carrier for FSX.

I really like this 1,900 crew "pocket" aircaft carrier !!!

Very interesting vid!

Looks like the crew might need to spend some time cleaning up that rust. Also looks like those pilots have their landings down pat. With all due respect, French planes look odd to me, especially seeing all those delta's on a carrier. Notice how the pilots initiate an immediate high angle of attack on take-off in order to get some air under those delta wings.

Cool vid...thanks! You don't often get to see the Frech involved in any sort of military operations.

The Rafale Marine is equipped with a "Jump Spring" front gear that is compressed and then
released at the end of the catapult course, quickly putting the aircraft AOA at the right angle.

The pilot is taking commands of the side stick and throttle only 3 seconds after the catapult
launch !

He checks the speed and engine readings before.
If the speed is too low for a flight ...... he ejects !

Look here what happens if you do not follow this procedure and touch the commands
too early after the launch :

By the way,

if you want to follow the french Rafale B/C/M implication on the Libyan
conflict ( under UN / Nato umbrella ) you can go on a daily basis to the
english speaking "Rafale News" blog here :

http://rafalenews.blogspot.com/

There is on this blog a lot of superb "unique" photos that I have modified
to serve as wallpapers for my 3 x PC's and LapTops !

Enjoy !

Here is some brand new footage from the French Ministry Defense related
to the Libyan "No Fly Zone" operations :

1.
Mirage 2000 D and Rafale Air To Air Refueling with french KC-135 tankers
http://www.dailymotion.com/ministeredeladefense#videoId=xhusop
( 5 minutes )

We clearly see on Rafales the "Damoclès" laser designation pod and
the AASM laser guided bombs.

2.
Cataplut launches from the "Charles De Gaulle" aircraft carrier
http://www.dailymotion.com/ministeredeladefense#videoId=xhuspi
( 2 minutes )

Including views from the "Passerelle Avia" ( the A/C control tower )

Certainly the most interesting ( and saught after ) "desk job" posting on
the aircraft carrier !!!

3.
Logistical transport footage and E-2C Hawkeye operations
http://www.dailymotion.com/ministeredeladefense#videoId=xhsnmq
( 8 minutes )

Rafale engines and armement transported to Solenzara Forward Operating Air
Base ( Corsica ) from St-Dizier and Nancy air bases for Mirage 2000 and
Rafale air operations support.

Plus

Super Étendard Modernisés and E-2C Hawkeye Catapult launches

The 8 blades propellers of the Hawkeye are uge and scary !!!

Look at the guy putting the "hold back bar" on the front gear of these aircraft
before the launch !!!

Probably one of the most risky job on the A/C !!!!

...For all those links, I never had the idea to look for the french defense ministery site.
Those old Super Etendards have almost three times the age of their pilots, I saw them
in a meeting last year in France, with Rafales and Hawkeyes, it was the Aéronavale first century
anniversary fest. :salute:

Well we hardly seek customers for the Rafale, do you think Sarkozy is got a chance with
Canada ? :icon_lol:

Best regards
Alain
