OK, this is me taking a bit of a flyer (and hoping that Rob will read it).

I am a big fan of WW2 warbirds and one of my favourites is the Realair Spitfire. Based on many posts here, I think that many of you also enjoy the Realair Spitfire?

So, to the point of this post - I would love to see a bubbletop in FSX. I am fairly relaxed as to which one, I think.....

Anyway, might we be able to persuade Realair to release an addon pack which provided a bubbletop model and a paintkit?

The flight model and VC could remain unchanged, just a new aircraft and external textures, plus a paint kit.

Personally, I would be happy to pay around £10/ $15 for such an addon.

If there is any interest here at the SOH, the please post in this thread.

It's worth a request, especially if there is sufficient interest shown here.

Cheers

Paul

YES!!!!

Mk 22/24 - absolutely!!! I've had that itch since first getting fs9.

How weird is that ... it's been exactly two years - almost to the DAY - that I wrote to RealAir about that exact idea. I don' tknow how they feel about the idea now - at the time, however, they were cool to the idea.

Here's to hoping. Here's the snip from my email correspondence on this:

Hi Daniel,

Thanks for your kind comments about our Spitfire. The FSX version introduced an earlier mark and involved a lot of research and work. After two successive developments of a warbird, we want to move to other kinds of projects now, purely for the sake of a fresh start in something different. Spending two whole years developing two versions of the same aircraft is not always good for the soul.

But thanks for the suggestion, and yes, we do get many suggestions about what we might consider doing next. Especially in the current climate, we also have to make very careful commercial decisions since the way we operate necessitates a lot of advance research and background work, and we need to be reasonably sure that we can recoup on that.

I can't speak for Sean but I am pretty sure his feelings are similar.

All the Best,

Rob Young - RealAir Simulations

Subject: Spitfire/Seafire product idea

Gentlemen,<?xml:namespace prefix = o />

First, I want to write to thank you and your team for the wonderful masterpiece of a product in your Spitfire XIV. It is an amazing work of art, one for which many of us in the FS community are very grateful for you having undertaken.

I also wanted to propose an idea. I suppose you must get scores upon scores of such requests – and I understand you may dismiss most such requests out of hand for good reason. However, as an active member in some of the leading thought forums related to FS, and having experience with both freeware and payware beta development teams, I believe you may find this particular observation of interest. At present, there is neither a good quality version of the Griffon-engined post XIV Spitfires (Spitfire Type 356 - Mark 22) – or more particularly, the wonderful late-model Seafire equivalent (Seafire Type 388 – Mark 47). The latter in particular, given the growing interest in early 50’s era naval aircraft, carrier scenery, etc. among the serious FS community.

I believe there clear absence of such a unique aircraft in the FS world, coupled with the persistent interest in that period’s aircraft (and I cite the excellent Sea Fury by Messrs Barry, Hanvey, et al as but one example), that a fully navalised, Griffon-engined Mk 47 Seafire would be a successful signature release for RealAir.

I welcome an opportunity to discuss this further, and wish you, your team, and your families all my very best regards,
