My first thought was .....

I have been secretly hoping for this scheme since it's initial launch back in FS9 days. And your rendition looks very good. Only couple of things I'd point out, if you're going for historical accuracy:

1. Flag - given the active period of the RCN fixed wing fleet, the flag would have either been the tricolour "flash" (up to '58)

or the Canadian Ensign - after '58.

Sometimes wore the Naval Ensign too ...

2. Roundels. I think you've got the smaller diameter roundels that were tight around the maple leaf - you'd have seen those in the very late RCN Seafire and very early Sea Fury days. The Silver Star had the RCAF-style roundels, as also seen above.

A great resource I mentioned in Henry's thread is this one .... very accurate description of what changed when .... http://www.canmilair.com/schemes.htm (http://www.canmilair.com/schemes.htm)

I hope that helps - again - they look super!!!!

Aah - 1966 - the start of the transition to the Maple Leaf. Makes sense. Markings in our military have been so screwie - the US hasn't changed since 1948, and the UK and France have basically never changed theirs in a century! We, on the other hand, insist on changing every decade or so ... strange.

I don't know if this is a high enough resolution - may work ....

Looks good though!

That's looking pretty sharp. It'll make an nice addition to the CF / RCAF / RCN hanger when it's ready (I change the ui_typerole="Canadian Forces / RCAF / RCN" entry for the aircraft in my FSX collection with a Canadian theme).

Thanks for sharing the WIP screenshots.

Cheers,
Rick

Type A roundel always get's forgotten in those things ;)

It didn't stay around long but it was used. Dag used it on his 103rd SAR skin for the Aerosoft Catalina.
