I am working on a complete, from the ground up repaint, including new bump maps. This is a repaint for the -3, which will now have proper panel line configurations for the -3 version. Still got some more tweaking to do yet.

Very nice.
I have a knack for early PacWar warbirds and paintings.

Thanks everyone! I'm still trying to work around a few mapping issues.

I have tried to find a way to bring down the shine a little, but no luck. I have checked all the texture files, so I am guessing its modeled in. Oh well...

Nice work! Those old style meat ball national marking always look very nice!

nice shots, Rob. Can the Justflight Wildcat only be bought from the Justflight Shop? I might get it, but I don't like the payment method there(credit card).

BTW, if you want the coastlines (beaches) to show on the Solomon scenery, you need to edit the scenery.cfg with a little entry (see installation notes).

Cheers,
Mark

Please do a more weathering necessarily. I know not finisehed but F4F looks like never to fly and never used in combat missions. Not like a real aircraft.

Thanks everyone!:salute:

roger-wilco-66, I got mine from the shop at Flightsim.com, however you will still have to use a credit card I belive. Not sure if they use paypal or not. I checked the installation notes and couldn't find the entry. I have V1 installed. Is the entry in the included pdf file?

Will do YoYo. yeah I am just getting started. I am working on getting everything lined up right now, like the bump maps and such. But I will definatly put more dirt on her.

ColoKent, yes the paint kit is included.

Great stuff there, Rob!

Mind some nitpicking?
It may be due to the perspective of your screenies, but I think the meatball is a tad too small:
From what I've read about USN insignia, the red dot lies tangential to the star's edges connecting lines.

Just did a quick sketch to show what I mean.

Cheers,
Markus.

Thanks Wild Bill. In most cases you are correct. It appears to me, that they were smaller than usual on the over sized roundels.

Here are a couple of pics showing what I mean. Of course my eyes aren't as good as they used to be, but what do you think?

You're right! I stand corrected.
Evidence attached.
So much for "standards"...

Markus.

Hehe, that thread inspired me to buy the Wildcat (finally found a software store the sells them and accepts paypal as a payment method).
Can't wait until I get home and give the Wildcat a few hops out of Seghi airfield / Solomons!

Cheers,
Mark

Well, :redf: this is the best I can do with this repaint. Still wish I could reduce the shine, oh well. Hope to upload tomorrow, with some other schemes as well. Will probably do a few more war paints for the -3, then I will try to do some Pre-war paints next.:salute:

Excellent, Rob! Looking forward to it!

Nice aircraft, Justflight's Wildcat. Didn't regret buying it.

Mark

Both these paints were uploaded yesterday and are now available.:salute:

Also a heads up, when you look at the wings from in the VC, the wing textures appear very distorted. Not sure why, but its nothing I can fix:banghead:

Awesome. I just bought this plane a couple weeks ago and wouldn't mind another paint scheme or two.
