How many of you have the alphasim b-24 for cfs2?

How many of you noticed it can't lift off the ground without flaps?

How many of you noticed if you landed at a certain angle, the propellers immediately stop like if it were a belly landing?

If any of you said yes to the following questions... We have a problem.

Can anyone make an upgrade for the CFS2 Alphasim B-24?

I found the same problems as well as having to use full elevator just to keep airborne.

I substituted the air file from the stock B-24D (made flyable) and all has been well.

The scrape point is a bit low, though possibly accurate to where the props are. Try changing this in the aircraft.cfg-

point.6=2.000000,16.666667,0.000000,-7.500000,1574.803150,0.000000,0.000000,0.000000,0. 000000,0.000000,0.000000,0.000000,0.000000,4.00000 0,0.000000,0.000000

to

point.6=2.000000,16.666667,0.000000,-7.000000,1574.803150,0.000000,0.000000,0.000000,0. 000000,0.000000,0.000000,0.000000,0.000000,4.00000 0,0.000000,0.000000

If that's not enough try changing it to -6.000000
Hope that helps

Now the wheel contact points are a bit wonky.

When i landed the plane, the main wheels are a bit raised and i want it to somehow match the real thing.

can someone do that?

Nose down problem of the Alpha version B-24J is due to poor angle of incidence for the horizontal stabilizer. It can be adjusted with AirEd utility program in section 1205 of the air file. It is set too high at 4 degrees and should be closer to zero, perhaps 1 or 0 degree. Actually the true characteristics of the B-24D is supposed to be a bit tail heavy. Not so much for the B-24J with the nose turret.

I attached an air configuration below if you would like to try it. I have it set for just the B-24J and not the Alpha B-24D. So if you have more than one B-24 in your B-24 folder, the aircraft.cfg would need to be edited for your exact B-24 folder setup.

Feed back would be appreciated. I have been tinkering with the B-24 flight characteristics and I think I may have the flight envelope close enough for a package upload (for the Alpha & Malinowski B-24s and Malinowski PB4Y-2) if there is any interest in them.

I'm sure there will be. Especially since Rami just post the Ploesti missions.

Boeing,

I would have responded to this earlier, but I had other things on my agenda. I ran these through AirWrench a while back, and corrected the issue. To tell you the truth, I had forgotten about the problem.

It uses some formulae that creates unrealistic planes. One point is the wing induced drag. It always puts this value at zero (no wing have zero induced drag value) and, to compensate, puts the drag values at a very high numbers. I always create two files. The first one is a CFS1. The other, a CFS2 (Air Wrench creates a lot of FS2004 useless features and puts the wings lift center at a very high number, compensating it with MAC values). After that, I compared and mix them to create a third file with standard CFS2 files and begin to alter the drag files and wing induced drag numbers until the plane is flying according the original specifications. In some points, the 1% spreadsheet have better features. One of them was specific data for airfoils. Knowing the airfoil, you can establish the induced drag.

Cheers

If you give the go ahead I'll upload it...

Rami, I forgive you that you forgotten the problem. Right now i will evaluate serveral files and i'll tell the people in this thread is the winner.

I noticed the guns weren't right. What happened?

The guns were being recognized ad the default liberator.

Can anyone solve the problem?

On my assumption, the possibility may be improper AlphaSim DP file for the B-24D or J, corrupt CDP file, or the wrong DP file is specified in the aircraft.cfg.

aircraft.cfg

[fltsim.0]
title=ALPHA B-24J Liberator
sim=B24J_Liberator <-- Air file and DP in B-24 folder have to have this name
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=

CDP can be deleted without problem. CFS2 by default will create a new one from the DP file when the aircraft is loaded into the sim.

For some reason your file was named wrong so I changed it to the one I had - B-24JLiberator.air.

...and messed around with the contact points some more. I think I at least got them pretty close with a decent suspension. Used with Oglivie's airfile.
