This was a great piece of freeware and very nicely done, however if your a real lover of the Rapide the Icarus version is simply stunning!

Holy smokeroonies, that icarus rapide looks like a nice package. Hows about you start by showing some snaps in sim so we get the real perspective? Meantime I'll go look for some videos on youtube to get the feel of what I'm lookin at.

Well, forget the videos. The only one I found was terrible. It looked like they filmed it using a fisheye lens

Yes sir. I saw the pictures. It looks real good. Though I'm hoping for more info from those who already have it before I get too excited. I like the DeHavilland birds in general though

I look forward to seeing your updates. As you see (if you have) I am sincerely fond of the DeHavilland aircraft. Not only that, I am so addicted to the vintage era (yes, I'm an addict) that I enjoy them all and never have enough. I'm always on the watch for something that's new to the simulator

addicted too to the vintage era and aerobatics(pitts sb-1 and another one are on the way too on spring), probably they sell less than jets but who cares

The Rapide is a very cool plane.

That movie was from Duxford, I took a flight in there other one last summer (2010), it was a fantastic experience even though it was only a short flight and I was in one of the back seats.

If your ever at Duxford its well worth going for a flight, just try to avoid getting put right at the back.

icarus, although I wouldn't mind a Dove for FSX what I would really love is its big brother the Heron, (hint, hint)

Ask the chaps over at CBFS, I'm sure they will have what you need.

Love 'em both. Dave's was the first FsX aircraft I downloaded when I built my first FsX rig. Flew it everywhere. Icarus' version is likewise a very nice aircraft with a super vc.
I fly 'em both often:engel016:

Yes it is. I took a flight around Duxford in it just last year and can still remember the sound of those piston engines - reminded me of a tractor engine on a farm.

Got a good picture of it after the flight and it is up on one of my web-sites (http://www.huskyplanes.com/Photos/DragonRapide.jpg for just the Rapide (or http://www.huskyplanes.com for others as well). I also blew it up to a 13 by 19 inch print and my wife liked it enough to allow me to frame it and hang it on the wall!

Yes, but looking through the product shots for the Icarus series you already seem to have this one. It is registration HG 691.

yes infact, there are some others still to do

I was searching after seeing that excellent representation. It is polished aluminum. Although my efforts to find that same aircraft came up with nothing. I honestly don't think it has been done because HG 691 is painted silver. But, looking under the wing it appears to be one in the same. I'd say the FS repainter got it wrong.

i'm working on a new paracuthe effect from airplane(there is one but is bidimensional) this will be in 3d for the military version of dragon but if works (just making first test) it will apply to all future models that were able

I dug through my set of photographs from my flight on HG 691 in addition to the one I linked earlier. From what I can see the nose cone section with the light plus the engine and wheel coverings are metal. The rest of the fuselage and wings seem to be covered in a form of canvas, maybe over metal, which is painted a silver grey. The angle of my posted shot, plus the processing of it, do make it look like it is all metallic when it is not.

Most of the wing frame was wood and doped fabric, the fuselage and it's sides were plywood with I think some aluminium parts, the only real metal skinning was over the engines in the cowls! I think that's right most of them were built by carpenters and joiners and not by aircraft engineers the way we think of them today!
