Now I can't login to Avsim. They changed the forum overnight and all my info was lost.
Who remembers what username you have used on a forum since the last iceage?
And it wont let me register again because the email address is used by someone.

They mentioned a few weeks ago that this might happen. I know what you mean about the user name Joe. I generally use either jmig or jmiguez. I can never remember which. :costumes:

I saw the warning about a week ago to double check your current email address in your user profile.

I did everything exactly like I was supposed to at the time. Now all I get is a continuous loop to log-in, invalid entry, send for new pass-word, log-in, invalid entry, send for new password, log-in, invalid entry...this time try user ID and registration key, invalid entry, blah, blah, blah.

Humm, maybe they are having problems? I will try and log in.

I got in with no problem. It took my name and password. I even posted to a thread, afterward.

I got in fine, but I hope they still have some tweaking to do. In it's current form I doubt I'll use it much.

Just got in on this latest attempt. They must have sensed the frustration in my keyboard pressure. :)

It's one of the forums I check daily. I just very seldom post anything.

Plus, that's where the HiFi/ActiveSky folks are setup.

that's why i use the same username/password for all the forums i participate on. that way, there's no forgetting. :costumes:

The 'new' Avsim forums...uh, well,....uh,...SUCK!

I abhor the format...so monochromatic.

The font is WAY too small for my old eyes.

Once logged in, you need to reset all your info...avatar, time zone, etc.
All the previous settings were 'lost' in translation...

You can no longer simply glance at a topics message
headers and see which ones you have been following
recently by the change in color....i.e. the same way
browsers mark 'followed links'....gone, all gone :(

Now you have to jump through hoops to find those
followed threads by marking them then on susequent
access, going to the control panel and finding the list
of topics marked. A G I A N T step backwards, IMO!!!

Please, P L E A S E, SOH Admin, do NOT follow in Avsim's
footsteps!! BTW, Simviation went this route a while back
as well. As a result I now do not participate as actively
in that forum due to it's setbacks in ease of navigation!

Paul ( who believes firmly in 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it ! )

I like the new format, got in with no problem, uploaded an Avy and viola! Much closer to what I am used to than how it was before.

I'm just glad all my post info and other stuff transferred over.

Yep, same here... got in with no trouble at all. The "new" forums sure are better than the old ones. Never liked them at all.

While I have to agree that it's hard on my eyes to read I have messed with it enough today to decide that there are some cool new features to it, and I'll continue to use it despite my earlier post to the contrary
