Question: Who can properly name/label the type of dinosaur 'Dino' the Sinclair dinosaur is? No fair lookin',....even though I did. And no,....don't give the generic popular name of brontosaurus.:jump:

Green Bay WI still has a dino standing from a org sinclair station not far from Lambeau field. Nobody moves or damages that Dino as it's protected historical landmark. So now the Dino sports a Shell look.

Dino's Origin??..........How bout "APATOSAURUS?"......The unaggressive, vegetarian apatosaurus , a 40-ton lizard with neck and tail each 30 feet long.

Did you know that both Apatosaurus (Deceptive Lizard) and Brontosaurus (Thunder Lizard) were both discovered by Orthinal Marsh? He named Apatosaurus in 1877 and named what he thought was a new species, Brontosaurus in 1879. When the mistake was discovered, the official name, due to the "Principle of Priority" became Apatosaurus. Of course several generations of us grew up calling the most recognized of the Sauropods "Brontosaurus" until the big dinosaur renaissance of the 80s.

I think that one of the reasons for the Apotosaurus/Brontosaurus mix up was that Marsh mistakenly used the skull from a Brachiosaur type Sauropod on the almost complete Brontosaurus (Diplodocid) skeleton.

At any rate Brad, I guess the closest that we can come to answering your question is that the Sinclair dinosaur is a Saurishian > Sauropoda > Diplidocidae > unknown species, but almost anyone of the many Diplodocids should work.

Well, so much for my old college studies in geology, archeology and taxonomy. I need a drink after that.

That's it beana. You named it correctly,....the apatosaurus! Which I think is an awfully dumb name,...they should have stuck to 'brontosaurus' and left it at that.
Now,.....for your prize,....I have a Kewpie Doll collecting dust somewhere up in the attic,...once I find it I'll be shipping her off to you. Congratulations.:ernae:

Hey Jagd,....from my readings the apatosaurus is the more 'correct' name for brontosaurus. As a kid,....I grew up reading all sorts of things about the Sinclair dinosaur called 'Dino.' The bronto or brontosaurus. Then,.....some smart butt paleontologists types decide the name brontosaurus isn't proper enough. My gut feeling is they were in cahoots with the scientists that decided that Pluto wasn't a planet anymore. Enough of this revisionist nonsense I say!

Oh man! Love the truck picture, and very interesting wooden flat bed to hold that tank.

The aircraft looks home-made, and the forward visibility must be ... limited. :)

Engine looks like it may be a standard automotive type with crankshaft at the base.
