Just made a test flight.
The plane has really nice sounds and the exterior model and textures are trully excellent.
The virtual cockpit looks quite nice too!

Just one thing that bugged me: how do you start the engines ?
I have been taking a close look to the cockpit and the only switch that I could find was the batteries :/

In front of the throttles on the centre console are a row of what look like circuit breakers/push buttons. They should do the trick.
Anyone got the bomb bay to open in flight?

Skippy,

To open the bomb bay, operate the Bomb Bay Master Switch (co-pilots overhead panel - lower left) and select Bomb Bay open (co-pilots center pedestal - lever in front of airbrakes)

Love the screenshots guys and you're very welcome, it's nice to see the old girl being appreciated. Apologies for the lack of documentation but it will follow. Just had to release her now to make good on some promises.

Question - why is everyone flying the Hemp R1?, each to his own I suppose.. my favourite is the hemp MR2 XV260 but then thats probably because I was fortunate to have a flight in her a while back.

Glad to see her make her public debut, some of us have been enjoying her in various beta forms for a while now (I think I have an FS9 model from 2008) and you will now see why we were raving about her.

In my book, she is up there with the best freeware of 2010 like the Entendard and Pirate glider, as payware quality at an 'affordable' price! Well done Brian!

Over 500 downloads already, shame the real thing did not go so well......perhaps it was the pricing!

Really enjoyable, this one. Apparently, I've just been asked to turn the volume down - "Pardon?" may not have been the best response:icon_lol:.

... When nimrod's about you'll have to shout :icon_lol:

just tell them it's against RAF procedure to not wear their 'cans' on the flightline ;)

This "classic" Nimrod in an early scheme is by far my favorite...

I've never been into jets. At all. No matter the size. But I must say, this appears to be a great model that's been shared here by the followings. The screens that have been posted here look very nice!!

Cheers to all involved that helped make this available :ernae:

What airport would be the best for this to be stationed at? Does anyone know if there is any military air traffic that would work well with this aircraft?

RAF Kinloss in Scotland and it also used to be at RAF St Mawgan until 1992, which is now Newquay Cornwall Airport in England.

You think that nose is odd, I think it's rather regal, but you should check out the AEW3 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hawker_Siddeley_Nimrod

Brian has not yet issued the documentation with the Nimrod. The autopilot is fiercely complex so here is a guide to using it:

In that photo from Kilo are they flying on 2 engines? The throttles look asymmetric, would they shut engines down for long flights?

SkippyBing

I'm think they used to go down to two engines once on station to improve endurance and use four for the transit to/from.

brianf51

Yes it was standard procedure to use 'loiter' capability once patrol area had been reached. She can climb out nicely (well ok struggle) on two as well. Additionally because the thrust points are all so close in being asymetric has much less effect than on typical wing podded jets.
