I sent you an e-mail when you sent me your prop textures and .dp file for the Junkers Ju-52. In that e-mail, I neglected to mention that Japlance already created a .dp file for it, which had passengers, cargo, and paratroopers.

with the dp file developed by Japlance there isn't any chance that the Ju52 will be able to carry bombs.

Is it really necessary having 14 passenger figures eating up 14 hardpoints in the dp?

As it stands right now, with the further addition of side guntubes CFS2 hardpoint limit of 23 is reached.

If we place bombs in her belly, we need another hardpoint per every bomb we want to load.

There will be no problem adding exhaust effects to the new dp, anyway.

I think I know what must have happened.

Back then, I was in the process of setting up a separatate PC dedicated just to web connections. It meant the end with the virus invasion scare to my cherished CFS2 files and slow performance due to the presence of an antivirus in the background, even with the latest AVG's "gaming-mode" functions.

On this PC I have nothing but XP, all the service packs + updates, AVG, Zone Alarm and Firefox. If anything happens it's only the matter of half a day worth of formatting and re-installing, and I am back in connection biz again.

CFS2 and all my personal data sit in my main computer, jolly well unplugged from Internet and all of its traps!

Your e-mail must have been deleted in the process of setting up a new e-mail account and exporting the mail database from one computer to the next one. On the first two, three connections I had to ask other people to send their messages a second time. Then everything went back to normal.

I know you are always pretty busy. If you want, I can do the necessary editing to blend in the exhaust effects in the new dp for you. I will then send it back via e-mail to you.

Two types of dp sounds like the way to go. After all, bombing missions were never coupled with paratroop drops or passenger transportation. "Tante Ju" was utilised in so many ways that this solution seems to me the best one to circumvent, once again, CFS2 limits.

Simonu created a library object that allows the passengers to be placed in the .dp as a SINGLE BLOCK UNIT, thus allowing us to have a single .dp file! He also made improvements to the gun stations. I was able to do all of the other hard point adjustments myself, and adjust the payloads without any major problems. That part is okay, I believe.

However, the gun stations and muzzle flashes will need a bit of work. Feel free to tweak my work as you feel necessary, but again, this is a tremendous leap forward!

Excellent. The gunner post and the turret looks great, and all the passengers in one single object spares a lot of hardpoints indeed.

At first sight, all the gun muzzles need repositioning. I would add the rear gunner position to the bomber loads. Also, 4x 50Kg bombs seems like a very light bomb load to me.

Also, another point is that in a single DP, adding or taking guns makes no sense, since the gunstations are always the same. That means that we either add the front gun turret to all versions or delete it from all. I'd stick to the "different DP's for different roles" that we were discussing in the other thread. One would be the bomber version, probably only used in the Spanish Civil War, with bomb loads and the cargo and troops options, but without the front turret. A second one for the early WW2, transport only and also without the front gun turret. And finally, a third one for the later part of the war, a transport fully armed with all guns.

Then is the question of the para drops. Has there been any suggestions about it?. The ones used in the .dp I did are not a very satisfactory solution: they fall like rocks and don't fit in the plane. One of the old Primavesi planes had a very nice effect added that was quite convincing, but the bad news is that the AI wouldn't use it, I guess, so no chance of Crete-like screenshots.

I've edited that effect to make it drop only 14 parachutists (could be increased), but I have no experience in Effects editing and still the first two parachutes appear higher than the plane. Any experts around?.

I can adjust the .dp to include all of the gun stations, that's not a problem. For this project, I would rather have one .dp, primarily because it would make using it a lot easier, especially for those with less experience.

So really, all we need to adjust are the gun stations and muzzle flashes. And as far as the paratroopers...that's something I'm afraid we're stuck with, because we need them to drop as weapons.
