I was not sure where to post this so I started a new topic

138MB download?
Have you tried it? That is a whopper and better be worth it!
(I'm paying per MB download...)
The TinMouse panel is not bad as it is, once you get used to the AP!
Looking forward to some reviews....

I have not tried it or downloaded it Stuart. I was merely sharing my findings because I know the Tinmouse has been pretty active here.

If anyone gives it a good review, I'll stick this, but I'll pass on the huge d/l.

I downloaded and installed it. Auto installer with a final size of 243mb. (2D only, no VC) Panel folder= 181mb. This is a complete aircraft.

I was looking forward to the release of this panel, because it intergrates the Sperry 177 AP, but at a 137 Mb, I'll probably pass.

Don't know why the aircraft was included as well, when most will already have it installed.

The other option to get the Sperry 177 AP is this ( which is what I've done ) ...........

http://www.flightsim.com/p/tmii_sperry177_mod.gif FS2004 TMII Sperry 177 Autopilot Panel Modification. While the Tinmouse II panel is simply one of the best freeware 2D panels ever created, a number of pilots have expressed a desire for a replacement of the Sperry 77 (CWS) autopilot with the Sperry 177 (dials and digits) autopilot. This includes all of the required files and installation procedures to retrofit the Tinmouse II Boeing 737-200 panel with a Sperry 177 autopilot FCU. Note: The latest Tinmouse II Boeing 737-200 (v1.26 at the time this file was uploaded) is required (TINMOUSE_II_V1_25.ZIP (http://www.flightsim.com/file.php?cm=SEARCH1&fsec=0&fname=TINMOUSE_II_V1_25.ZIP) with TINMOUSE_II_V1_26.ZIP (http://www.flightsim.com/file.php?cm=SEARCH1&fsec=0&fname=TINMOUSE_II_V1_26.ZIP)). Hmmm - strange thing...
Dunno if Rodolfo Estrella C. is/was part of the TinMouse project or if he was granted permission to include the whole aircraft into his release, but

- as it seems to include a 16:10 widescreen 2D panel and
- I fortunately have an unlimited broadband internet connection,

I'll give it a try and report back.

Cheers,
Markus.

Well, guys - here comes my assessment:

I like it!

First of all, I have to state that I'm more the stick-and-rudder jockey who won't start reading a 100+ pages manual before throwing the first switch.
I'd rather prefer to hop into the seat, turn the engine(s) to "loud" and hit it!
This said, I can't post a verdict on the accuracy and system-depth of the new panel, but the bottom-line is:
The TinMouse is much more flyable with it!

As possible copyright issues are concerned, the author claims the following in his readme file:

All gauges, layouts, bitmaps and mods belong to their own author and owners. Several attempts were done to obtain permission but never obtained reply, If you consider to be prejudiced please contact me to update this work, remove the option and or apply proper credits here. This Panel is modified to achieve a closer 737-200 Sperry 177 Autopilot equipped panel and it was done with freeware details.

As far as I know, the TinMouse group isn't existant any more (please correct me if I'm wrong), so this statement appears creditable to me.

The huge package includes two visual models (pax and cargo without hush kits), so I copied my preferred gravel-kit model and First Air textures into it. The airfile remained untouched.

So let's get into it:

http://i603.photobucket.com/albums/tt112/wildbillkelso_berlin/737/737pan1.jpg

Test hop starts at (Pete&Sid's) Iqaluit. This is the full panel with a ridiculously high resolution of 3208x2312 pixels, which gives a quite odd aspect ratio of 13,8 : 10...

The very great thing about this panel is the zoomed view (you might also call it landing view or VFR view):

http://i603.photobucket.com/albums/tt112/wildbillkelso_berlin/737/737pan2.jpg

Although some of the more important items can't be accessed from this view, the creator implemented a hot spot at the glareshield (just above the attitude indicator) to easily switch between the two main views. The usual sub-panels (overhead, throttles etc...) are also included.
The main panel functions don't differ too much from the original TinMouse panel, but the Sperry 177 Autopilot is very easy to handle!
After wasting some fuel above Frobisher Bay, it was time to make an ILS approach to Iqaluit. I don't know why I failed capturing the glidepath, so the final was done manually:

http://i603.photobucket.com/albums/tt112/wildbillkelso_berlin/737/737pan3.jpg

http://i603.photobucket.com/albums/tt112/wildbillkelso_berlin/737/737pan4.jpg

Not too much traffic around, so the implemented TCAS remained quiet...

Fifty-fourty-thirty-twenty-ten-BANG-touchdown!

http://i603.photobucket.com/albums/tt112/wildbillkelso_berlin/737/737pan5.jpg

Back to the ramp:

http://i603.photobucket.com/albums/tt112/wildbillkelso_berlin/737/737pan6.jpg

I haven't yet compared the the flight dynamics parameters of the aircraft.cfg file, but especially on final, this tube seemed a lot more user-friendly to me.

So if you already have the TinMouse in your hangar (and some of my recent repaints for it as well...), you should copy the panel and the FDE out of this package to get a real nice classic Tubeliner!

Cheers,
Markus.

Thanks for making this thread sticky! :salute:

Took a deeper look into the aircraft.cfg file:
Some minor re-adjustments of several parameters were done and they really turn the Tinmouse into a nice-flying aircraft.

If anyone still is hesitating to download the whole pack and is happy with his current panel (although I strongly recommend getting the new one: The VFR view is great!), here are the altered values from the aircraft.cfg file:

Give it a try!

Thank you Markus!

This works fine. She flies beautifully!
I'm still using the original panel though (modified with Sperry 177).
I changed the panel cfg. to allow an autopilot and GPS popup. This eliminates the time delay on the Sperry.
Also, I reverted back to my SW light settings, as the taxi lights and logo lights will not work with this cfg.
The smoke fx? Well, that depends on each's personal taste. I had to change them. They were too much in my face.
Over all, this is now working great for me, thanks again for the repaints and your commitment!
Well appreciated!

Stuart

Glad I could help, mate!

I changed the panel cfg. to allow an autopilot and GPS popup. This eliminates the time delay on the Sperry.
I've noticed this delay and was rather annoyed about it. Thought it was some kind of FSUIPC issue...

The new panel lacks a GPS popup, but adding it (and getting rid of this stupid yoke as well...) was no big thing.

Cheers,
Markus.

Markus,

Thanks for the Aircraft cfg update, it certainly makes the baby Boeing a better aircraft in the air. :applause:

While I still use the original panel with Mark McCoy's Sperry 177 Auto Pilot mod, I'm going to try this new panel for comparison, and especially to get the Landing view panel.

Pete.
