It will be for FSX next year.. I'll be converting the FS9 Gnat and Wessex and bringing out two new models, the Bucc and Dominie during 2011.

I still find it odd that no one made a repaint of those aircraft!

So it's only for FS9?

That screenshot is of the Simshed Folland Gnat T Mk1 for FS2004, ported (sort of) into FSX. As Brian says, he plans a native FSX version next year.

Peter, just a quick note and not to hijack your thread, but if you've never tried the outstanding "Alphajet", you should look that one up too.

Downloading the Gnat as we speak though, lol. . . .:salute:

How did you fix that Ed that looks amazing, can you share it please?

Sorry I didn't answer right away there Peter, my granddaughter and a friend spent yesterday and this morning with me and they took over the computer for that time.
The gauges are all from either the default 737's, the Concord or the Extra. . .all default gauges so I can release it. I want to search for a few more first, but I'll get it zipped up and post ASAP.:salute:

Gauge Question: One gauge I can't figure out (besides one labeled "ILS") is labeled Gnat_e2b. . . .anyone know what that is so I can replace it with a similar gauge?

Ed the E2b is just a megnetic compass, the default whiskey would do just fine.

Not to put off anybody, but I'd like to see a Lotus-quality frogfoot. From what I know, we've never had one in FS at all.

Yeah a Lotus sim quality Gnat with all his features would be an unreal addition to fsx, and a Frogfoot would be nice too but not before a Fitter always liked that one more personally!

I like the Frogfoot idea too! :wavey:

I've zipped up the changes I made and sent an e-mail to Brian at Simshed to get permission to make it available. Once I hear from him and it's a positive response, I'll post it for download.

In the meantime, is anyone using it in FSX/SP2/Accel? I have noticed gaps on either side of the VC main panel that shows the outside, be it ground or clouds. I tried changing the VC color in the panel.cfg to 1,1,1 but the placeholder for the VC actually is this huge rectangle that extends way above the canopy and out either side which gives me this mammoth black wall where it resides, lol, so that ain't happenin'.

Oh man, David snuck that one in on me, lol. I didn't know he was doing the BD-5J. . .wow. . .love that little jet. I've been flying the converted FS9 version for a long time.

peter12213
November 21st, 2010, 21:43
Yeah I noticed those gaps too Ed, shame it can't be fixed easily but having working gauges is a start until a native version is released, and yeah that BD5 is supposedly being released soon according to the iris facebook page, kinda not in the same league as the Gnat though it is small lol! Thanks for all your efforts to Ed mate I'm certainly very grateful!

The Bede BD-5J is to most other jets as the Extra EA-300 is to most other prop aircraft. To me this is the most enjoyable jet to fly aerobatics in. If they are doing a FSX native version I would be extremely interested!!

Anyone able to re-post Ed's Gnat panel fix for FSX?

The link takes me to a file, but it refuses to download.

Many kind thanks!
