Thanks for the heads up Euroastar. I downloaded all the freeware helos. I really like the look of the 500 Amphib....that will be a nice bird to crash into the water...

It looks beautifull. The virtual cockpit is especially impressive !

For the FSX'ers reading this thread, unfortunately this chopper doesn't work correctly in FSX. The gauges are compatible, but they do not work as they should. Also, the cockpit is not clickable at all. Bad luck.

If it did work properly in FsX it would probably still be on sale instead of being freeware now, so that's good news for Fs9 pilots! ;)

Thanks Nemeth! :applause:

Great helo, once I got the engines started (Not that hard once you've read the manual) I took her for a short testflight.

For those using this bird in FSX, well there will be an FSX version sometime next year. This was posted by Ryan Mason/Nemeth Designs over on the Hovercontrol forums:

Being that it's an FS9 aircraft, there may be a few more issues come up but we will be doing a full fsx version some time in 2011

Lots of fun. Thanks for the HU. :wiggle:

There's also an improved 2D panel by Matthew Lue at Hovercontrol. You will need to change reference to the gauge cab file from s76! to ND_s76! I elected to just swap [window00] in order to retain the various popup windows.

Any military MD-500 paints for those birds? I googled around and didn't seem to find any (there are other MD-500 models with military paints...but for such a lovely model, I'd replace my others with one of those any day)

Hmmm.....installed the S-76 and it crashes my sim when it tries to load up. Anyone else getting CTD's when you try to load the model.

Hi,

Yes .. me also:
Not really a CTD (or have not the time to wait for it) .. but a long time black screen with no disk activity...
ALT CTRL DEL and killing FS9.EXE is my cure so far :) :)

were can i get hold of the paintkit for this bird?

Txmmy83
November 13th, 2010, 15:35
I am not totally sure if the the original paintkit is included in the Freeware re-release but when it is it could be found in an folder called "Nemeth" which was created during install or something like that in your FS2004/FS9 root directory

not having those problems!

but questions:

do you have the official FS9.1 update installed?
have you installed the helicopter and its update or just the main download?

Hi,

Helico installed as required and with the update.
FS9.1
First time I have this (893 different aircrafts installed paywares and freewares) :)
When I choice any of the models (regular or med) I have disk activity .. sound of engine for 1 second and black screen with the hourglass pointer .......
After 6 or 10 seconds .. HD activity stop.
I have wait to 15 minutes .. lol .. nothing happend ......
ALT CTRL DEL make the magic :)
Not a big deal anyways .. I have some other choppers ... :)

I am not totally sure if the the original paintkit is included in the Freeware re-release but when it is it could be found in an folder called "Nemeth" which was created during install or something like that in your FS2004/FS9 root directory
Paintkit included in the freeware release (a RAR archive named "paintkit" located in the S76 folder :) )

EDITED

Also, anyone else have issues with the GPS?I have no issues with the GPS ROFL

Found a military paint and other mods for these at helicontrol's site.

Also, anyone else have issues with the GPS?...every thing (gauges) works great, but the GPS is dead.

Hokey Smoke, this fab bird is giving my game seriously exotic ailments. Pure virtual function runtime error? C++ errors? I'm going to remove it and see if the problems go away. And thanks to Thomas for reminding me to do the FS9.1 update as I just did a re-install of the game. I hope this is correctable because I have always wanted this one.

Hi,

Lolol....
I past 2 hours in my attic .. and eureka (Alzeimer got not me as I remembered have the payware version :) ) and found the payware version
Installed and ..... work great

http://i56.tinypic.com/9ay0c7.jpg

But .......

It's the first release ... no update applied
So as I trow in the bin the freeware version .. I must download it again and see if the freeware version not updated will also work.
BTW I dunno what the purpose of the update .. ?
Must now take some rests :)

I've been flying the freeware version since it was released several days ago without any problems.

I haven't applied the update yet ( don't know what extra benefits there are ).

Another thing, if your default start up aircraft is 'alive and ready to go' , this S-76 will be ready to fly without having to go through the full start sequence.

Pete.

as far as I know the Update was originaly released for People having Frame rate issues so it does something to the Textures

Claudius we should probably tell the Nemeths that some of us encouter Problems with the Freeware Variant because there is maybe something wrong with it!

Hi would one be willing to help with the VC galss issue? I think the other issues in FSX can be repaired to certain extend.

Well after the FS update and the Nemeth patch it seems my problems went away. I should have done them separately to see which step was the fix though. One thing I notcied is that the strobes do not activate on this aircraft. In the CFG if I switch them from #2 to #3, so they come on with all the lights they work, but will not if designated as #2 strobe. I switched on every light in the VC I could find and still no strobes.

I finally got to take this one up, and was pleasantly surprised to find that I could actually fly and land it! Of course, I did have every realism slider full left...:kilroy:

Jordan Moore did some cfg tweaks which transform this helicopter.
They're available at Hovercontrol.
It's now starting to eat into my AW139 airtime...
