The Dominican Tucano would be a rare site in FSX. Not much area in FSX representing Dominica in paints. Would be a welcome addition and a rare treasure.

Is it preferable to lost time in fictuous repaints that will never
exist in reality or concentrate in repaints of real subjects that
have not yet been covered ?

A vast debate to discuss : reality vs fiction

I fully understand that everybody is free of doing what it wants
to do but is MSFS ( FS9/FSX ) goal to reach closer and closer
to reality ?

The debate is open.

I have the requested paint in my list of paints to do. Once I complete a small group of A-10 paints I will get on this one.

FSX is an awesome and incredible visual stimulation, and it's a great vehicle for learning certain things. But, there is so much missing in the way of tactile feedback, full body forces, infinite variables, and risk that comes from the womb of Chaos Theory, that it will never be just like real or even close. FSX is just the tip of the iceberg...and it's a hellava tip...but that's it I'm afraid.

So, why not have paint jobs that might not have been real? If you owned a real plane, you could go out and paint it any way you wanted (just about), so why not in FSX? I understand why some purists would only want to see "real" schemes, but that's because it furthers the fantasy of bringing FSX to parity with real....which it will never be.

Don't get me wrong, I love this FSX gig! It's fulfilling my fantasies just like everyone else around here, but I'm not kidding myself about it.

I agree 100% :d. After all, look at some civil aircraft or warbirds that are owned privately - many are painted in schemes that were fictional until the owner had them painted in that scheme - so is the new scheme now real or is it still fictional? When does fiction become reality? If I have a scheme in my head - then it is fictional. But when I paint it onto an aircraft in FSX is it still fictional or has it become real?

IMHO, FSX is meant to be fun. So you do what ever gives you pleasure - whether that be making aircraft, painting them or just flying around. We all like different things. Some guys that I know only fly the big airliners. Some only fly warbirds. Other like fast military jets.

BTW, as someone who has doe most things in FS - whether it be building aircraft or scenery or gauges or effects, setting up AI, painting aircraft etc - then I would encourage anyone to try it out. there are lots of guides and tools available to make the task as easy as possible. It just requires a fair bit of time and attention to detail. So if you have a favourite paint scheme, for example, then why not try to paint it? It's not as hard as you might think and it broadens the fun that you can get from FSX :d.
