I am working on a second skin for the freeware FSD T-38A. A beautiful, striking two tone scheme in Dark Gray and White....now, I'm sure that the US Air Force had other names for the colors, but to me they are dark gray and white. I pulled the colors off some very high quality photographs, so they are close to the real deal..maybe not exact but close enough. What I don't know is how the paint carries over to the lower surfaces of the plane. I only found one pic showing the bottom of a plane painted with this scheme and it was so small and blurry I could not make out a thing other than the shape of the plane.

I will post a couple pics for you USAF gurus to look at and hopefully someone will be familiar with this scheme.

I added a third pic showing the bottom of the plane...but I can't tell what is what. I marking the pic to show my interpretation of what it looks like to me.

Went out and shot these myself, with the payware FSD T-38.

Many thanks to Falcon409's FSX glass fix and enhanced cockpit textures...and also for the extra texture work he did at my request.

If 14L is in use tomorrow at Randolph AFB, I can go out and take a look for you if you like seeing as I am about 1/2 mile from there. They shoot basically right over a roadway when on final so it should be easy to see the bottom of the aircraft.

Thanks for the links and the screen shots guys....will come in handy as I do up some some skins using that scheme to go onto the freeware T-38A. Not really sure how many people use the plane, as opposed to the payware version...which looks great by the way...but I need some nice skins to go on the freeware bird, so I'll do them and share them and if no one else uses them I still have them.

I have the fuselage camo pattern done....I think...OleBoy sent me an image with a really good color swatch for the two colors used...I may have to redo it...I'll see how far off my colors are.

There is also a desert colored version of this camo pattern...I will be doing it as well.21581

I did have to make a compromise on the nose, where the dark and light colors meet. Some odd texture mapping going on there....it's not a huge thing...still looks good, don't think it will be too much of a detraction from the finished skins.

The swatches are not definite. A very close spectrum for you to compare and choose.

Maybe it isn't perfect, maybe the colors are not 100% accurate...but I really like this scheme on the T-38. Still have to do the tail markings, but that will be the easy part.

Some of the pics I have of this scheme the middle of the fuselage and wings look whitish. Some of the pics of this scheme, those areas have a weird blue green color...sort of like a well used highlighter that is just about to put out its last bit of color...know what I mean? I tried the blue green color and it didn't look as good as the white...which is close to being insignia white I guess. I went with the whitish color because it simply worked with the dark grayish color so much nicer.

And I am attaching a better shot of the revamped VC panel. Using Falcon## (I can't remember the number after the Falcon right now) FSX VC panel for the payware FSD T-38 and tweaking it to work in the freeware version. A huge improvement. And I increased the size of the gauge pizel thingies in the panel.cfg file to make the gauges extra sharp.

I just noticed that my low-vis national insignia is way wrong. Need to track down a proper low-vis insignia to work with.
