Default FS9 Damage textures??????

Whilst working on a repaint for the default FS9 Vimy I Stumbled across what appears to be some damage textures. I checked a few of the other default aircraft and found the same thing. does anybody know anymore about them??? and why they don't appear to show up when i crash????
