View Full Version : Native FSX PZL-104 Wilga in the making?

OleBoy
October 5th, 2010, 07:49
The subject came up in the Champ topic. Thought I would continue here.

Is someone doing a FSX native Wilga? I hope so. I would like to offer my painting services. And maybe opportunity to be on the beta team. I really like that little plane.

I forgot about the Wilga as it's been awhile since trying to migrate to FSX.
....Back in my FS2004 time I did a few repaints on this one. Rather enjoyed it.

I installed the Wilga in FSX. Doesn't look bad. (memories) There are problems with the VC glass being black and the prop is translucent in the clouds. Have there been fixes done to correct this?

I tossed a few of my paints in there to test them out. Not bad.

Hi YoYo, and thank you.

Sigh, again I'm too late. That would have been my first own developed native FSX plane. Collected about 500 photos from the Wilga, contacted 10 different Wilga operators, got 2 different manuals and 3 detailed pilot reports....hope it turns out nice, especially the flight model. It's not too easy to fly, especially land..the real one. Nevertheless I enjoyed flying the real one very much, although that was a looong time ago

Someone is never too late. I had no idea someone was making this one for FSX. Now I find out you were going to model this one also. Am I ever out of the loop around here.
...Personally, I wouldn't let this slow your direction. You have all the research, the resources. And you've got that far. Why let this get in your way? Every modeler does things differently. What one sees in their eyes, the other can better the rendition.

Personally, I'd love to see you move forward with the project.

Exactly. Don't give up, from 3d model to flyable FSX aircraft is very long way. Who knows, maybe you'll be faster :)

Bernt, this is fantastic...i love wilgas and like someone said...id like to have several versions...im looking forward to yours...you said you are a pilot and you flew the wilga at one time?...if i read that correctly...ive read in the past that they have a short flight duration?..like small fuel tanks so they dont fly far?...is that true?

I flew it a lot because we had 2 at our local airfield, but that was more than 20 years ago.
In the meantime I'm flying only the Boeing 767-300ER anymore due to the JAR-OPS regulation which makes GA flying in Austria unbelievable expensive.
And it's true, the radial engine is incredible thursty (that engine wasn't even planned for the Wilga) but it's vertical performance is incredible....up and down....but she's very slow.
Even at take off power you can't go faster than 102kts and that's a plane weighing just 1900lbs with a 260hp engine!

LOL, I will not change my mind. I'm building the Wilga because it's one of the most interesting (and brute force) GA planes with lots of character and I simply want to make a very high standard FSX plane for my own pleasure.
If others are going to like it as well....that's fine :)
Of course I'll post progress screenshots.

New wip shot about Wilga for FSX

Hi Guys,

This WIP shots looks quite perfect, but had some mistakes also. Somebody who have registration on that polish-language forum, please be so kind to tell to the developers about it!
As you'll see the pictures above, the control stick's grip haven't any degrees, and the landing gear strut seems too thin.

I tend to lose interest in models when it turns to spamming the topic with un-needed posts and information. It doesn't show any true progress and forces me to read all the junk to get down to what's important. Progress. I haven seen anything for progress that wasn't already shown on pages one and two.

IMO anyone that has any feedback on the way the model is being done (correct or incorrect) should post where the developer has announced the model to be.

I can think of another FSX/WIP thread (AT-802) that I feel the same way about. That particular subject got way out of hand

I can not agree with you completely. Hmmm, no any smile on Your face? Are You so serious? How many posts is here with unnecessary informations, screenshots ect. This is a Forum's rule, take easy (example: Avatar of Nemeth ect). Do You want model now? Do You know any about 3D moddeling? It isnt work only for the weekned. If You want, just dont relpy if post isnt for You, very simply OleBoy. Be sure, developer works with Wilga, and changes will be in next post but remember - its half or more than half a year when model will be done, so take easy and do not be offended (they have normal job, normal family, modeling and FSX its a only hobby!) . If someone will have another model of PZL-104 can put informations (as it was) here too, right?

Perhaps will be two kinds of textures inside of VC - in Polish and English :).

bstolle
June 29th, 2011, 08:43
That looks very realistic indeed! Superb!
BTW, no need for english textures, both of our 'Austrian' registered Wilgas had only polish lettering and you simply had to learn the switches.
Found out that while low wing GA planes can be nice as well, there's nothing better for exploring scenery than a shoulder wing plane like the Super Cub or PZL-104!!!

Tool tips in English as a language option would do the job such as Mathias offers in his aircraft.

OleBoy
June 29th, 2011, 14:36
I'm not aware of Mathias's methods, but a different texture set would make the sale for me more satisfying. I'm sure others would follow stride. Once the Wilga makes it's way to release, it's a done deal. I'll be painting the heck out of it.

Better to see the correct gauges. With tool tips you would hover over the gauge and an English description would appear, so you instantly know what the gauge measures. Simples:engel016:

Will be tooltips in english but textures in english are correct too: http://www.thaiflyingclub.com/linkwilgainside.html or http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2589/3931527963_54d1e60700_b.jpg . Chairs for corrections.

Not meaning to bash the modeler, but I see things that are out of proportion compared to the RL Wilga. The grips on the stick are way off. Not knit picking, but to my understanding and from the beginning of the Wilga ordeal, the whole purpose was to model it as real.

If not, I won't mention anything else related.

@OleBoy. Do You think about what? This model is making with ... RL plane near airfield of creators. Proportions of grip see here: http://img299.imageshack.us/img299/4601/68aq.jpg
Mabye my English isnt very well (Im sure) but all aspects are always checked with real Wilga.

OleBoy
June 30th, 2011, 14:40
Well, ok. Given the control stick (grip) on the model, compared to the picture you refer to as example, they are completely different in both shape and proportion.

I understand the picture you show is likely the one being used for creating the model, but this is the same seen in this picture http://www.airliners.net/photo/PZL-Okecie-PZL-104-Wilga/1496328/L/ which you can see (from the left stick) that it is totally different and unlike what's displayed on the model.

Here are more that is the same as you show in your photo

If there is an issue I think it's purely one of perspective and camera lens against render.
I have no problem with it at all...bring it on Yoyo and team!:ernae:

is this the one from the Polish designers that will be brought to the software market via Aerosoft?

I hope not!!! Not only that the seats etc. look better in the SOH version but they would also need to look for a different FDs designer as I wouldn't work for Aerosoft.

That must be some developer from Russia because of the cokcpit arrangement, Russian descriptions and radio. So, it is a completly different model. Anyways, the more Wilga's the better :)
