I have Wozza's uberfine Texan, Harvard and Wirraway collection installed in my sim...even have his Texan Float version....which is a blast! I had the Texan, Harvard and Wirraway up for some airtime tonight...and I noticed that the Wirraway is skinned like it had a cloth covered fuselage. Is that correct...was the Wirraway fuselage wrapped in cloth?

Yes part of it was fabric covered

here you go... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CAC_Wirraway

Wirraway was based on the NA-16, which itself (NA-16) evolved into the BT-9 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_American_BT-9 and then the T6 series (aka NA-26) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T-6_Texan; not the other way round...Wirraway was not an adaption of T6 as some folks think.

Pardon me for sounding like a complete noob but where does one get this collection of aircraft? A float equipped Texan sounds like fun.:wavey:

I can't remember where I downloaded the float equipped Texan from. I have to get myself together and get into town for some supplies...but I will dig around and find the download after I get back. It's a wonderful collection to have in one's sim install. The Texan, Harvard, Wirraway...all of equally high quality.

Thanks OBIO, looking forward to it. I have to go to the salt mines pretty soon. In the meantime have a great day!:ernae:

Look at these guys!
They don't need any floats on their "Sixes"...

I do that from time to time....and it isn't all that easy to do. A bit too much down stick and you are in the drink!

That's on way to fly low and avoid the radar.

The T-6 on floats is included in "abtt6-tx.zip" at Flightsim.com.

Never tried it in the real airplane, not going to either, but I think it actually is probably easier than in FS. As long as you "touch down" soft enough and keep the speed high enough the water will offer enough resistance to support some of the AC weight.
I am sure we have all seen Super Cub drivers land on water and then roll out onto a short patch of beach to park.
The hydroplaning effect in your car is basically the same thing happening, minus the control authority you have in an airplane.
