I know there are tons of real world paint schemes for the L-39 by looking at Airliners.net, but I thought I'd go through my collection and share some of mine.

Where I live there is an L-39 at our local air museum.

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a185/WarHorse47/L-39%20Albatros/Actuals/PICT2140.jpg

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a185/WarHorse47/L-39%20Albatros/Actuals/100_0014.jpg

Notice the fake sidewinder.

And we have occassional visitors during local air shows..

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a185/WarHorse47/L-39%20Albatros/Actuals/PICT0007.jpg

But what I think would be real interesting are those I've seen at Reno in the jet racing class.

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a185/WarHorse47/L-39%20Albatros/Actuals/101_0172.jpg

I'm anxious to see if any repainters are willing to take these on.

Cheers

Confirmed.
Asking myself what I could do for my country (well, actually it wasn't mine, as I lived on the other side of the fenceline...), I'm currently fiddling on some GDR-LSK paints. It may become a triple-feature, consisting of "144" in LSK markings, "28+52" in its unique 1990 transition scheme and a white/yellow target tug.
Thanks to SteveB's support, I have all the stuff I need for these paints.

Cheers,
Markus.

This Russian Albatros looks awesome, Zsolt!

Here is the current status of my East German 144:

Assuming the Warsaw Pact's Air Forces had the same standards on how to paint the L-39's tip tanks, I think my wing tip's yellow area still has to become a little wider.

More to follow...

Cheers,
Markus.

I have a repaint request for zsoltquack.

Your repaints are phenomenal, and I was wondering if you might considering painting this L-39 for me. It is owned by a friend who shares a hangar with me in real life, and is quite possibly the most beautifully detailed paint job I have ever seen on an Albatross.

For those who are wondering, this is the Royal Thai Air Force, and I believe his aircraft is the only civilian L-39 flying in these colors.

Yes!
It really is one of the best camouflage!
But it would be a great help if you would allow the developer to be able to work on Abacus FS Repaint program!
Is encoded in the L-39 model and will not open the FS Repaint tool!
If you open up, it would be Canaan colors!

PLEASE HELP ME!

Some details still have to be done. But maybe you could help me with this question, barát:
Do you know of any standard about the interior colours? Especially the inner side of the flaps?
You've painted them red with your Russian bird - was this the usual colour for these parts?

Köszönöm szépen!

Hello Zsoltquack

and thank you very much for all these beautifull repaints of one of my favorite aircraft.

another interesting repaint could be one for L-39 of the Libyan Air Force with their unique
desert scheme :

http://wp.scn.ru/en/ww3/a/17/40/0/5

Note that recently refurbished ( zero houred ) Libyan L-39 have now a thin white outline on three segments of the Libyan Flag on the fin :

http://jetphotos.net/viewphoto.php?id=6114428&nseq=49

Finally, note that if you do this desert scheme, you will also be able to do repaints for the Egyptian ( 10 x airframes ) and Syrian ( 24 x airframes ) versions, these L-39C having be donated by Libya from their impressive inventory ( 175 x airframes ) :

http://wp.scn.ru/en/ww3/a/17/6/0/1

http://wp.scn.ru/en/ww3/a/17/15/0/1

Consider this as a formal repaint requests not only for me but for all L-39C fans of the planet.

On this matter do not hesitate to also put on FlightSim.Com the repaint you have made on my request for the Nigerian Air Force version.

Best Regards

for the reasons why...

Now back to business:
That white/yellow Czech trainer looks great! I think there'll be no need for the identical East German rendition. But this one is almost ready for release:

http://i603.photobucket.com/albums/tt112/wildbillkelso_berlin/Albatros/GAF2852_1.jpg

http://i603.photobucket.com/albums/tt112/wildbillkelso_berlin/Albatros/GAF2852_2.jpg

It's the German October 1990 transition scheme, just after the East German Airforce and the whole GDR passed away. Some L-39 were taken over by the West German Airforce, some were given to the Hungarian Airforce. The depicted Albatros still wears its LSK paint (note the overpainted insignia) and already the new West-German tactical registration 28+52 with the "iron cross" insignia between the numbers still missing.

For those who are wondering, this is the Royal Thai Air Force, and I believe his aircraft is the only civilian L-39 flying in these colors.

and the newest Czech military traffic at : http://flightsimulator.cz/ai-provoz/doc_download/28-czech-air-force-2009-ai-traffic-pro-fs2004 ... do install this ai traffic, the more modern version of the Czech AF fleet circa 2009 ...

O.K. - but I'll stick to this scheme.
But I could use a little help on ZK-WLM. This is what I did up to now:

http://i603.photobucket.com/albums/tt112/wildbillkelso_berlin/Albatros/zkwlm2.jpg

http://i603.photobucket.com/albums/tt112/wildbillkelso_berlin/Albatros/zkwlm5.jpg

Although I tried hard, I didn't manage to grab a pic showing the upper wing/upper fuselage camo pattern - so this is currently sheer guesswork. It would be great if anyone could help me out with useful references on these areas.
I know that BananaBob once did a repaint on ZK-WLM with this pattern for the Lotus L-39, but it seems unavailable now. Any owners of this repaint here to help me out with a screenshot?

Something fresh and different to try! I made for myself a very fictional Blue Impulse (JASDF aerobatic team) to play with. Some creativity was needful, because the "official" paint style that is used on the Kawasaki T-4 doesn't fit well to the form of the L-39, and it was very hard to make it look good, so a special scheme was created to suit the Albatros.

Of course, Blue Impulse can't use L-39, so I gave it a civilian registration, to reflect a Private L-39 painted to look like Blue Impulse.

It looks good? If you want to have this paint, let me know and I will release it!

Fellow pilots of L-39, Blue Impulse will be released today, along with two more of possible additions to your collection: Air forces of Cuba and Uzbekistan.

I am preparing zip files now. Let's L-39 flying!

On sillier subjects, in all my paints I have replaced the girl with the image of Nakagawa Shoko, popular idol in Japan, as my preferred travel companion. Now this poor girl has been to all kinds of places, Uzbekistan, Cuba, Viet Nam, Russia and more in L-39's! Such adventure! :D

Azerbaijan has been on my short list, and Bulgaria is in works now (both Modern and Communist-era versions). Iraq may come if I can get a good quality picture for the nose logo.

These are very good news Lazerbeak !

Another interesting repaint project could be the 1983-1992 "Soviet Invasion" of Afghanistan
L-39C.

Briefing :

As the security situation in Afghanistan worsened after the Soviet invasion, later L-39's
were delivered in the standard "Russian" camouflage scheme and pressed into service in
a Forward Air Control ( FAC ) to support Soviet SU-25 Frogfoot.

These L-39's were flown and manned by Russian crews but were wearing the "Soviet Style"
roundel of the "Democratic Republic Of Afganistan" a puppet communist gouvernment
installed by the Soviets at Kabul during their invasion.

These L-39's had to be equipped with modified underwing tanks modified to carry flare
dispensers due to the arrival on the theater, of the shoulder launched Us "Stinger" missile
supplied to the Afghan Talibans by the CIA.

Here is a color profile of these "DRoA" L-39C :

Keep up your excellent work

Dang, you've hardly left any screenshots for us to take... ;)

Well, I'm quite sure you'll be able to show us some thrilling formation shots, Charl...

Just fiddled on some details.
1. Vit had a minor bug in the paint kit, making the lines on the antiglare area a little out-centered. It's fixed:

http://i603.photobucket.com/albums/tt112/wildbillkelso_berlin/Albatros/zkwlm17.jpg

2. The air intake warning chevrons were missing the DANGER lettering. Although not readable (font size is 3 px!), I think it had to be added...:

Upload to Flightsim and SOH finished.
Have fun!

Cheers,

I highly recommend the RealNZ series mentioned!
Worth every single Dollar/Euro/Shekel or whatever...

First pic of my post #172 shows Wanaka with the simulator's date set to April 15th to make the airshow's installations appear - very nice detail!

Took Markus' fine repaint for a spin with some friends at Wanaka...sometimes I think he paints faster than I can set up a Recorder scene!

This is an authentic flyby formation BTW, seen at Wanaka 2004

Ah yes, the Bulgarians are done, just have to apply it to the sim to do testing and then packaging. Azerbaijan is still in process. Sadly I have not had good time to paint recently, but I have some free time coming up, so they will be ready very soon. Apologies for the wait, friends!

Bulgarians will be available together in one zip, Azerbaijan will be separate. I have also added an Afghanistan red-white livery to the list, but this will come later.

Can't find this one. Can someone put a link to it up?
Or tell me what key words to look with. Just spent 20 unfulfilled minutes looking at Flightsim and here.

Never mind. Found it. Just had to dig a little deeper.
