Hi, I just bought Aerosaoft's African Aristrip Adventures, and boy is it good!!

I was wanting to allow for some homemade AI traffic across the African airstrips, just a few pipers and cessnas, maybe an occasional An-2 taking off and landing in FSX.

I cna do it using AFCAD and TTools in FS9, and I was wondering if there is a way to do it in FSX?

Thanks,
Sid

There are several tools that will allow you to create and modify AFD (airport facilities) files in FSX. My personal preference by a massive margin is Scruffyduck's Airport Design Editor (ADE): http://www.airportdesigneditor.co.uk/ - the only thing I cannot do with that is change the altitude of lakes that I create.

I know others around here who prefer Flight1's Airport Facilitator X (AFX): http://www.flight1.com/products.asp?product=afxv1 which does have some nice additional features, but not ones that have interested me enough to pay for it so far.

There are others around, but those are the main two that I know people who use.

Regarding TTools, that one is easy: AI Flight Planner (AIFP) can be obtained from a number of places and offers a graphical based method of planning AI flights in both FS9 and FSX formats. That doesn't really have any direct competition that covers what it can do, so I'd thoroughly recommend it.

Las but not least, you may want to get hold of SBuilderX, which allows you to create non-flat flattens (i.e. slopes) to "blend" airports into the environment, create and modify water areas and lots of other stuff too.

For what you want, though, AFX or ADE may be needed to change the airports, but possibly not depending on whether they already have parking spots. AIFP will create the AI files (with your input, obviously!) so that's all you'll need - SBuilderX is only really needed if you get more heavily into scenery design.
