How do you add a second CFS2 install?

Hi Bob,
The easiest and simplest is to just copy the whole of your CFS2 installation and paste (after renaming it) in as another version i.e. CFS2 Europe, CFS2 Med, CFS2 Test etc etc. Then each one can be customised as to theatre of conflict or specialist requirement.

With this option and you are happy with certain elements ie mesh, land texs, scenery, aircraft etc etc AND you want/need to limit HDD space you can make those (and many others) seperate and as shared folders with all the versions of the sim you make. Various files/lines of instructions have to be modded to direct the various sims to look in these remote files.

If you want a virgin installation to start with, AND you have already have an installed/modded CFS2, you will have to copy your current installation to another place and re-name it. Then delete the original installation using Windows uninstaller (there is a way to do it with tweaking the registry but...). When done delete all the files that were not deleted by the uninstaller.

Then do a fresh installation, AND before adding anything to this installation, copy it to a safe place (this becomes your virgin/reference version of the sim and can be used to make fresh copies from).
You can then copy back and overwrite the new installation with your saved copy of your current sim. Or just use the moved/renamed current version where it is.
If you want to use your moved current version still as your main CFS2, you will then have to modify the short cuts to CFS2 and MB, directing them where neccessary.

Hope that's clear enough!???

There are many options of how to do it, just take your time so nothing that you want gets deleted! :icon_eek:

Let us know if you need anything else.

Cheers
