Sorry to hear.
Nothing but massive mountains and endless forest there. I hope they made it down safe.
My mothers flight instructor told her once, that if she has to land in a forest, forced landing, to aim between the trees. Knocking off the wings slows you down.

It has been a tough summer for aviation in Alaska. I have lost count of the number of crashes, and I don't want to count the deaths (fewer thankfully). There was another crash (all survived) Friday near Homer.
The weather around King Salmon has been bad for a while. A student I know has been trying to complete a long cross country, but was blocked by the weather all last week.
