Here is a question for Manuele, because if he doesn't know, no-one will! :salute:

Is there a Macchi MC205V for FS2004, or even usable in the sim? My fingers are crossed!

Yes, there is an MC.205 Veltro which can be used in FS9. It's actually an old FS2000 / FS2002 / CFS2 plane designed by Mario Noriega. It's listed under each of those sims and under FS9 on his website. In each case, there's a separate entry for a panel. Note that you may need the extra DLL files he lists immediately under the FS9 header in the index at the top left corner of the page (Necessary Files!). Incidentally, the files (and others) can also be found under "Veltro" at flightsim.com, though the ones on Mario's website are slightly newer.

Not a Veltro, but its predecessor the Folgore:

FS2004 Macchi C.202, sq.356. The most important Italian fighter of WWII, the Folgore was derived from the Saetta with the installation of a German Daimler-Benz 600 series engine. Fast, maneuverable, reliable, it had comparable performances with the Bf109F series. This Gmax model features highly detailed historical virtual cockpit with full military equipment, high resolution gauge textures, fully functional and clickable VC cockpit controls via custom XML gauges and XML animations. Includes damage model and multi-LOD. Accurate flight dynamics included. Detailed D.B.601 engine visible hitting spoiler key. By Corrado La Posta.

William Dickens, aka Bismarck13, has done a number of warbirds that are outside of the normal fare. Russian, French, Italian, Japanese. They are CFS2 models, but work very very well in FS9....he does his testing in FS9 before tweaking for use in CFS2.

If you look on Simviation.com, you will find his Caproni Vizzoa F.5 and Fiat G50. Here's a link to the search results for his name:
http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/perlfect/search/search.pl?p=1〈=en&include=&exclude=&penalty=5&mode=all&q=William+Dickens (http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/perlfect/search/search.pl?p=1&lang=en&include=&exclude=&penalty=5&mode=all&q=William+Dickens)

IF you go to the Warbirds Archive here and look under Bismarck13 you will find even more planes....including a series of Beaufighters and a Breda 65 Italian ground attack plane.

Andy, Being a fellow Veltro admirer, I have to give you the bad news- there isn't a decent looking Mc205 that will work in Fs2004. Huub is correct about the Folgore- that's about as close as you'll get, and it's nice to look at as well as fly. IS4G also made a Veltro, but it was never updated for FS2004 as the Folgore was, and it won't work at all. On the up side, there's a pretty Fiat G55 out there that keeps me from missing the Veltro in a big way. -Mike Z.

Unfortunately you are right! I downloaded the MC205V pointed out above; the thing I like about the Veltro is that it is a prime example of "if it looks right ....." - well, this model really doesn't, which is a real shame.

Its a real pity the beautiful CFS2 models from Alessandro Casadio and Giovanni Clemente do not work in FS9. Alphasim had a FS2002 model, which was released as freeware. However I do not know if this model works in FS9. The model WAS in the SOh library, however the link is currently dead.

Aeroplane Heaven has worked on a Veltro and the images looked quite promising. However after FSX was released I haven't heard anything about this project anymore.
I have saved some pictures from the time there was still new about this project on the AH site.

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y210/Huub_Vink/mach.jpg

The old CFS2 FIAT made by Ignacio Alfredo Mendive should be available as well. I still have it installed although heavily modified. In the past I did several repaint for this model. Although is was a beautiful model in its time, the model is now definitely showing its age.

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y210/Huub_Vink/G55_q-veltro1.jpg

Which more or less leaves the Re.2005 by Luca Festari (and released via Skyunlimited) as the only serious candidate.

Although there is a FS2004 Reggiani Re.2001 available by Kazunori Ito and a CFS2 Re.2002 by William Dickens aka Bismarck13.

Cheers,
Huub

The CFS2/FS2002 Alphasim Veltro suffers the dreaded "No Prop" ailment when brought into FS2004. If there were someone who knew enough about using Gmax to rework the model and update it to FS2004, I could possibly get the model back into Gmax as a 3ds file. I have been able to get a few older Alphasim models back into Gmax, but I am totally clueless about what to do with them once I have them there. Oh, I can turn the model round and round and look at it from every conceivable angle, but no matter how hard I stare at the polygons, they refuse to do anything useful.

I'm not aware of any repaints. But almost all historical correct possibilities are already included.

For those who did download Ignacio's G-55 and want to use this with my textures; There are two version of Ignacio's G-55 one available here (uploaded by me with Ignacio's permission) and there is an other version at Simviation. The one here at Sim-Outhouse is the most complete version, including a VC. However my textures were done for the version at Simviation.

Although my textures fit without problem on both versions, there is some renaming of the textures required when you use the version available here.

There are some very nice alternative textures available for the G/55 done by Alessandro Mascardi. You can find the here http://www.simviation.com/fs2004vintage29.htm (at the bottom of the page)

I have the freeware Re2005, and I'm quite happy with it. I've also tried out the Alphasim Veltro, but had the same result that Obio had. But I really enjoy Ignacio's G55 with Huub's textures- VERY sweet. Nice work, Huub! If AH were to ever finish/release that Veltro, I'd get it as soon as I saw it!

While I was digging out the G55 and the paints for it, I also found the skins you did for the Alphasim C-130. Nice paints...just a shame the lower parts of the horizontal stabs were not texture mapped on the C-130E.

Hi OBIO,

The C-130 textures aren't done by me. In the time I was still staff somebody from Alphasim mailed them to me with the request to upload them. That's the only reason why they are registered under my name.

Hi Friends,
I'm just back at office.....
After the hard work with the Breda 65 now I hope to continue with the CR.42, the external model is FINISHED, but the VC still needs a lot of work.........
Just downloaded, but not installed, the new Quai-D'Attomo's Macchi C205 Veltro......

At the suggestion of Mikezola I swapped out the aircraft.cfg and .air files with that of the 1% 1s4g version, which much improved the performance; sound is aliased to the Flight Replicas Bf 109K (presumably there are other alternatives out there) and this is now turning into quite a nice model. It does need new textures, so hopefully Manuele will be able to work his magic and produce some stunning schemes for us! :salute:

Hi Friends,
I installed the Quai-D'Attomo's Macchi 205V, the general lines of the plane are correct, BUT UNFORTUNATELY (like ALL their aircraft) the surface "shining" is completely unreal, the texturing and the quality of the textures are "really" poor......
I'm trying to make a "paintkit" remaking almost completely the base textures of the external model, it's really a veeery hard work, the authors have applied in a strange way the texturing, the actual paneling is wrong and out of register, I think some errors are very hard or impossible to fix.....

Hello-
I think I see what Manuele is talking about regarding paneling issues... as an experiment, I'm in the middle of adapting some textures from the CFS2 1IT Mc205 to this model- in general, it's kinda working (I am by NO means a skinning expert), but I'm seeing some glitches happen relating to what I think you call 'texture mapping'- isn't that essentially where you instruct the model to look for its texture on any given bitmap?
I hope something can be worked out regarding repainting this model... All told, I'm still glad to see it available for FS9.... -Mike Z.

Mike, check out this thread (http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?t=42129&page=2)to see the brilliant start Manuele has made; Falcon409 had made a creditable start on improving the basic schemes, but Manuele has to be the acknowleded expert in this field. I am in awe of what both of them achieved, as my own attempts to fabricate my own paintkits for other aircraft have been less than successful to date.

John, I completely missed you question, sorry for that. It has been white a while back so I don't know the correct file names. But there was a difference between the file names of the textures for the incomplete version which was available at Simviation and the complete version (with panel and VC) available here.
(I assume you are familiar with the normal process of adding extra textures). The model name in he aircraft.cfg file might not be correct as well. As I did my first repaint for the version available at SImviation there might be problem there.

Hope you will succeed in instaling the model with textures, if not, just give a shout and I will send you what is on my hard disk.

Hello Huub, thanks for responding. The full version shows up in the sim under "unspecified". I have your Regia texture installed and in line on the aircraft.cfg but it's a no-show in the sim as expected. The original texture set has two additional .bmp files. Both are individual aircraft markings such as wing numbers, unit badges and pilot names.
The best I have been able to get by experimenting is to disable the Argentine texture and rename "ra" as "texture". The ra texture shows up but there are blank areas where the Argentine unit badges, numbers, etc. were located in the original texture. I tried several other "renames" but no success. I appreciate any help.

Hi David ! Indeed, I discovered yesterday this Sky unlimited aircraft...
Nice Italian aircraft, and awesome 3d model ! Very good quality...

As many blade fighters on FS9, the flight dynamics is not realistic for take off and landing,
and after some corrections, it is a real pleasure to fly with it... very aerobatic...

Take off and landing... the problems come often from contact_points and repartition of height...
and in many times the force feedback effects are to hard... easy to fix that to...
and some minor fixes about effects and panels... I repete, as many blade fighters...
deshining a little the MDL for this fantastic Sagittario...
But this Reggiane Sagittario is a pure racer... as also the G55... Veloce, forza Italia... as well !

I'm re-discovering the Italian blade fighters, and it is a real pleasure...
