Hi all,

I seem to remember a North Sea oil rig (or UK) scenery with a lot of platforms. I wanted to brush up my heli skills and so started looking for it but no luck:

Does anyone of you guys know if and where such a scenery exists?

Thank you and regards,
Sascha

I remember having a cluster of oil rigs off the east coast of England, but can't find the file any more.

The only one is cleetonv2, to be found in "Hovercontrol".

Have to register with the site for the downloads, but it's worth it. There are a lot of packages there, and if you get them all there are over 250 platforms to practice your landings on.

I believe Free Flow Florida has a bunch of rigs in the gulf. You can also get an object placement program and put any number of them wherever you want.

For the UK I use a group of 4 rigs called Amethyst field

IN the Gulf of Mexico the ODG demo it adds 24 rigs.

I remember a Adventure that came with the Rigs. Back when FS9 was brand new, I did it online with a couple friends (think Willy may have been there) and turned out to be one of the most intense FS sessions ever....a good 4-5 hours long. It was really bad stormy weather, we were flying V22 Ospreys. Idea was you were rescuing Workers from the rig. We found it, trick was landing. It was night, pouring rain, and killer wind. I remember setting up for the platform, and found my V22 moving backwards due to the rain. We eventually got all 3 aircraft landed on the rig...then took off on instruments back to England. I remember having lost the localizer and ended up running into something...LOL! Great challenging fun....

Found a bunch of offshore oilrigs done by STEVE CHASE at flightsim.com (20 or so)!!!! Good luck. Also found a four part fs2004 scenery of Faroe Island off shore oil rigs by Steve Chase at AVSIM.COM.

Take care.

Hi Folks

Just happened to come across this thread
when searching for something else. :icon_lol:

Thoroughly recommend you dump all those old version packages, (except Faroes),
which you'd obtained from -
- flightsim.com
- AVSIM.COM
- hovercontrol.com
as they'd all been superceded by improved models and textures.

Then download Steve Chase & Alun Heseltine's latest version platforms,
from The Offshore Development Group, (ODG) (http://www.fs-odg.com/).

The ODG UKEZ phase one series packages
will place 332 helipads and 385 related representational models,
offshore in the UK economic zone.

These models are positioned as in real life during the period 31/05/2004-06/06/2004,
and comprise -
256 Fixed platforms
16 FPSOs
28 Semi-Submersibles
18 Jack-Ups
67 Vessels

Phase one packages are designed to be fully compatible with both FS2002 & FS2004.Some screenies (http://www.fs-odg.com/index.php?ind=gallery&op=section_view&idev=6).

An FSX upgrade is currently undergoing beta-testing,
shortly to be followed by some previously unreleased components,
voicepacks, various texture-upgrades, and a time-machine.

We're also currently looking for beta-testers, (all FS versions).

For info -
Steve Chase, (aka VERTIGO), died unexpectedly last year. :frown:
