You know, I want that real bad, but for the price for good old FS9, do they include a paint kit?

I converted the fabulous freeware 150 by Guidée François-Denis, Franckart Yves, Mabille Jean-Michel, and Bourgeois Jean-Pierre, which has a paint kit and a fantastic VC BTW, and did my very good friend Jodie Peeler's Cessna 152. I know technically they're different, but for my purposes, it worked.

Now if someone like Carenado would include a Photoshop Paint kit, I would have to burn plastic right now. If I order one, I think I may have to opt for the FSX version.

Took the plunge and purchased last night; Unfortunately for me I won't be able to take it for a spin 'til the latter part of the week. Glad to see respected companies like Carenado taking care of their remaining (and quite substantial) FS9 crowd! Excellent decision; I wish some others would re-consider dropping FS9 development until maybe 2010 or so.....:icon_lol:

I remember several months back, someone asked about the difference, and I seem to remember the only real thing was the flaps. I think the 152 had less flap travel? Maybe? I remember tweaking and posting a modified flaps section, but that ould have been long lost now.

Photoshop paintkit you ask? I can make one for those that prefer photoshop templates:ernae: I did one for the Mooney that I haven't even released:isadizzy:

Congrats, Lou :ernae: lol....I did actually run her (more like a brisk walk) around the pattern at Portland/Troutdale last evening, and can happily say that she flies very much like the real one...save for a slightly exaggerated yaw issue that i think may be sensitivities on my controller. VERY happy with this and must once again say thanks to Carenado for cutting it loose for FS9!!!:applause::applause::applause:

The rudder is far too responsive for my taste. It's not your controller.

Has a great sound file this one! Saw one doing touch and go's at EHMZ last year, while I was making pictures of the buildings. Hope there will be a paint kit!

Can the rudder yaw be lessened? Flying this one a lot!

Look for the [flight_tuning] section. The line you want to adjust is rudder_effectiveness = 1.0 - remember, 0 - 2.0 is the accepted range. If the tuning section isn't there, you can add it with just the one parameter.

Thanks Tom, I'll try that one.
Edit: 0.8 instead of 1.6 did the trick!

Thanks Tom and Cees for the rudder tweaks! It really helped.

For the serious panel tweakers:

I'm sure there are many C152's without pitot heat, but in my neck of the woods I haven't seen one without it.

I added the pitot heat switch to both panels. The switch in the 2D panel is in the correct position. The 3D panel switches are modelled by Carenado, so the best, and closest, I could get was placing the switch between the left and right fuel gauges.

I used Carenado's switch and xml format, so can only give up the text for the pitot heat xml.

Tweakers will have to decompile Carenado's "C152.CAB" (save a copy of the original CAB for your records), add the new PitotHeat.xml, and recompile a new "C152.CAB".

A panel.cfg adjustment will also be necessary to call up the switch in both panels.

note: rename "PitotHeat.xml.txt" to "PitotHeat.xml"

Hey dog, thanks but I don't have a views section in my fs9 panel.cfg. :isadizzy: Is that a FSX adjustment?

It's FS9, Lou. They didn't have a VIEWS section, so just add it in.

Here is a Shockwave Lights config in case anyone is interested:

[LIGHTS]
//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit
light.0 = 3, -1.65, -16.736, 2.01, fx_shockwave_navred
light.1 = 3, -1.65, 16.727, 2.01, fx_shockwave_navgre
light.2 = 1, -17.43, 0.00, 4.50, fx_shockwave_beacon_rotating_red
light.3 = 4, -2.57, 0.00, 1.50, fx_shockwave_vclight
light.4 = 5, 4.00, 0.0, -1.35, fx_shockwave_landing_light
light.5 = 2, -1.75, -16.736, 2.01, fx_shockwave_strobe_sm
light.6 = 2, -1.75, 16.736, 2.01, fx_shockwave_strobe_sm_3

........Should you not want the strobes, just hash out or delete lines 5 and 6; I put them there because a few 152's I have seen have them. Enjoy!

Thank you Felix, very thoughtful of you.
Interestingly, the port wingtip light displays a small distance inboard, as seen from the pilot's seat.
Spot view is fine though.
