I got dragged to the Smithsonian this weekend by my brother and sister inlaw, well I'll admit it didn't take a lot of dragging, but I had a great time and took a few photos of what was there and thought I would share them with everyone.

Cheers
Chris

I should know this without having to ask, but...
the hanging Spirit of St. Louis is Lindbergh's actual aircraft, right?

That's right, shes the real McCoy. I got lost in that place and did not want to leave until I realized it was time to go see Pappy's grave, that was the highlight of my day. I filled up 4, 4 gb cards in my cam.

Great pix, Chris. Wish I could go there every few months when they change the displays.

Does ANYONE know why the ALBATROS (just before the Wright Flyer pix) is wheel-less?

The Albatross wasn't there at all in January when I went so it may be that they haven't finished installing it yet. regarding exhibit changes, my january trip was my first one there since 1977 when I first visited and I would estimate 60 percent of the displays are untouched since then and most of the changes were to make the museum more "touchy feely" and with less actual material on display:confused:

I've been there a few times myself and yes, the main exhibits do not change -- I'm referring to the ones that hang -- but they do occasionally change some of the floor exhibits, as well as the contents of the cases.

The one I've never been to is the Udvar-Hazy.

This one is still on my "bucket list" and every time I see someone's pictures or see it on TV I am laying out a flight plan to combine the visit with a nice long cross country :D
And then the boss scratches my vacation request or tells me I can only have half the time I wanted and I put it off for a while again.:salute:

Thanks for the reminder and the nice shots.
