Free E-books

In celebration of my new Ipad (when it gets here), I've been stocking up on ebooks from my favorite publisher, Baen Books. If you don't know who they are, think the best SF authors including the Honor Harrington Series (David Weber), David Drake, and Eric Flint.

Anyway, Baen has a LARGE free ebook library available in many different formats, encluding epub. Most books are the first few in a series and the aim is to get you hooked so you will buy the later ones. For you SF fans and others, check it out: http://www.baen.com/library/

Yup, Baen has been on my e-book shopping list for many years to keep my TX stocked with reading material. Some good stuff there...

I've always had to do a format conversion on titles I got from them...I'm an eReader (formerly PalmReader) user and they don't support that format by default.

I have been away from reading, doing most reading now online of just news and things, but the iPad with its book program now has be back to that.

By the way Bob, the Book program in iPad is getting rennovated already and will also run/read/manage PDF's on the next update in the end of June.

One of the things that really gets my interest in Ipad is a thread you had a while back about an app for FSX. I find the Itunes store ver;y hard to find anything without going through lots of programs to find what you're looking for

I had issues with finding stuff in iTunes at first. I started finding these mini-arrow keys that take you to 'the next page' and the small print 'find more like this' and using the search 'in' iTunes. That helped me alot. There are also these two dots in the top left of a page of Apps. One is dark, one is light. You click on the next one to go to the next page. They are small page selectors and page identifiers to let you know which page you are on.

Now, I can go in, punch in a few key words in say the App store, and some Apps popup that have the info I need.



My biggest use now for my iPad lately is playing either music or TV / movies on it while I am working. Makes like a mini TV.

I bought a cool scissor stand for it by Griffin. Brushed aluminum with rubber pads all over it. I think its called an 'A-Frame'. Not sure. Holds it upright or sideways and had cable access from the bottom. Pricey though.
