I am kind of impressed with Strike Fighters 2 Europe. An amazing sim for a developer one-man-show! Serveral DirectX 10 features and all it needs to look really good is a terrain update!

Nato Fighters 4+ adds more NATO air forces and objects, like this YAK-28 and the pursuing F-86K.

Note the texture detail. Kudos to the developers of this freeware pack!

Running from a pair of Frescos over a dense forest. Gotta love autogen!

CAP.

Sometimes though, the dynamic campaign generator goes crazy.

Shattering some windows on the run from a dozen enemies.

Note the Fishbed's shadow on my Hoover and the HDR effects on the stabilizers. (Default terrain)

I think I can finally send SFP1 into the desert - at least after I've ported over the old scenarios.

What a nice evolution from the original SFP1. And at only $20 (€16) it offers way more in terms of long-term fun than your average FSX payware (Free add-ons + dynamic campaigns!). A sound investment.

I've only recently discovered this little gem. I miss spent my youth playing games like Janes USNF and Fighters Anthology and this is the closest thing I have found to those. And as you say, at $20 you can't go wrong. I'm having a blast :icon_lol:

This does look very KWEL, I have not come across this one before, is it a general release or download load only, I am thinking I want it - "right some bad"...

Thanks for the HU.

Download only.

You pay, you get your download link and you can use it as often as you like. You don't even have to go patch hunting since the dowloaded installer always contains the most recent files.

The Europe edition of SFP2 is about a 650 MByte download and needs 3.5 GBytes on the HDD.

Take a look here. TW has WW1, Vietnam, fictional desert, Europe and Israel editions of the sim engine.

it's at times like that you hope you have the speed advantage... get outta' there quick :icon_lol: i had similar on LOMAC decided i'd set up an area of the map called 'Tunguska Alley' filled with lots of nasties, me in my humble old F-15 against 12 aircraft and enough AAA to step on, my Threat Warning was going crazy so i decided to bug out and lead the aircraft into the open, taking as many as possible before i myself had to punch out...

looks good Bjoern, shame i'm on a rig that HAS to run FSX at the minimums (I can't even run fs2004 fully maxxed, the AA kills my performance...) or i'd be getting that in a heartbeat...

I've thought about trying out the Strike Fighter series. Can you put up a shot of the F-100 cockpit, and does TrackIR work with this game?

I have SF1 and WoV1, but never really played those games. Have to try newest iteration.

I can't wait for Rising Sun. It will be a PTO addon for Thirdwire sims developed by Yankee Air Pirate guys. It's already looking very good.

Never tried that one, since I'm not a big fan of pure mud moving. Even in an A-4, it gets boring at a point.

I need at least multi-mission capability. F-4 hooray! :d

it's at times like that you hope you have the speed advantage...

The AI in SFP2 refuses to fly recklessly at treetop height, so if you *have* to get away, hit the dirt and cut some tree tops.
Your wingie will bite the dust in any case though, since he's just that...AI.

The very first Strike Fighters ran flawlessly on an Athlon 2700+ with 1 GB Ram and an ATI 9700Pro, even including AA and AF!

Can you put up a shot of the F-100 cockpit, and does TrackIR work with this game?

See Prowler's post. Generally, I wouldn't worry about the VCs, they're top notch. Can't comment on Track IR though. Apparently there are some bugs, but if I can survive without it, you can as well. ;)

I had the original releases (WOE, WOV, SFP1) but haven't seen much of a difference to justify buying the newer version. Can anyone help me see the light as far as improved play, AI, graphics, etc? I loved the NATO fighters expansion and didn't realize they were up to number 4 in the series.

That F-100 pit looks good, thanks Prowler. And Bjoern, I can't/won't do sims without TrackIR, it's a no-go without it.

Track IR works in the TW sims. Not 6DOF like FSX, but good enough for combat.
I wanna start developing for the TW series 2 sims. Just gotta find refs on gauge/VC making.

Bjoern,

Could you do me a huge giant favor? Post your pics by some method that does not result in 20 windows popping up upon clicking on them, some of which display "stuff" that may not be suitable for all family members, if you know what I mean. I don't want to simply delete all your pics, so I'm starting here... Thanks!

I thought so too at first, but the price tag and some gift money from grandpa made me reconsider. :d

I *knew* there was a catch 22. Never got to see a single of those ads though. Hooray for popup-blocking!

Did someone else have that problem?

Also, as PM'ed to you, it would be nice if I got some editing rights for my first post to put them back in as not to confuse potential readers who didn't get a glimpse at the screenshots before.

I appreciate the damage modeling in the new sim, by the way!

I've got a self-engineered TrackIR clone somewhere around here, but I need to build a new headset adapter and get a webcam capable of constant 30 FPS first.
